Dumb idea to have 14 playoff teams. Not because you will have the occassional avergae team, but because it lessens the urgency for teams to be as good as they can be to get in the playoffs. Not only that, you get more frequent playoff matchups. I like it when teams who play each other in the playoffs dont see each other much. Now ur gonna have more rematches with this dumb idea.
Anyway, here are some of the damn games:
Colts @ Bills - Interestin' game. Colts very underrated as an 11-5 team, they really are a complete team. Will be good matchup between their defense and Bills offense. Colts have lost their last 3 trips to Buffalo. The key will be how Philip Rivers plays. There WILL be fans in the stadium, first time all year.
Rams @ Seahaks - Rematch of the game 2 weeks ago in Seattle. Will be a similar game, close, tough defensive game and think it will play out the same way, with Seattle having a little more offense to win in the end. Goff is questionable with the thumb, John Wolford looks to start. Managed the game last week to win 18-7. DE Jamal Adams, injured vs SF last week, WILL play. No fans.
Bucs @ Skins - Brady back in the playoffs. He is 3-4 in his career in road playoff games. This one won't be easy but the Skins wont have enough firepower to win I dont believe. Mike Evans is questionable due to an injury in last week's win. Alex Smith may not play due to injury, and it might be Tyler Heinicke at QB. What a shame if Smith can't go, as he won the game for them last week although almost gave it away in the 2nd half with turnovers. Antonio Brown has quietly risen up the depth chart has been explosive lately, with 100 yd games and TD catches all over the place. No fans. Probly a good idea 3 days after the Capitol was stormed.
Ravens @ Titans - Rematch of regular season game and last year's playoff game, won both times by the Titans. Despite this, Ravens favored by 3.5 points. Baltimore looking for revenge. They are firing on all cylinders right now. IMPORTANT: Stephen Gostkowski was OUT last week due to Covid, he is now back for this game. Sam Sloman came off the practice squad and hit 2 of 2 FG and 5 of 5 PAT's, including a DOINK! to win the damn game in the final second. NOBODY noticed, NOBODY cared. All anyone was worried about the Rams-Cards game and we got stripped of the chance to see a great AFC South tussle. But anyway, remember that opening day Gostkowski missed 3 FG's at Denver but still ended up hitting a game-winning FG in the final second. Derrick Henry last week needed 215 yards to get 2000, and he got almost 250. He will need a similar big game this week to win. I have a feeling the Ravens are thirsting for revenge, and Gostkowski will miss a FG or two. There WILL be fans, as there have been all year in Tennessee. As there should be.
Bears @ Saints - The Bears have lost 6 in a row to the Saints, with most of those coming at Soldier Field. This is a rematch from a game earlier this year at Chicago. The Bears last playoff game vs NO? That's right, the NFC championship game in 06-07 that quickly got away from NO early. Saints favored by 10, seems like a big spread but Vegas always knows what's up. Saints offense sometimes bogs down and they end up in close defensive games, but they are built for it with a great defense. Michael Thomas is OUT, so are Roquan Smith and WR Mooney. Saints should use a good dose of Taysom Hill in this one, especially if Brees struggles. There will be 3000 fans.
Browns @ Steelers - For some reason this game is overhyped, with the storyline that the Browns are in the playoffs finally. Early in the year I said that Baker won't win in Pittsburgh and he got blown out 38-7. Last week, beat the Steelers B-squad by 2 to get into the playoffs. I still think Pitt will have the Browns number here, but will be a closer game. Browns missing their head coach due to Covid. When the Browns have stepped up and done well against tougher competition this year, Mayfield has stepped up and had huge games (@ TEN, vs BAL, vs IND). If he does that here it will finally catapult him into the upper echelon of QBs. But he has also shown a propensity for boning games away by fumbling. The Browns will be missing at least one and up to 3 offensive linemen with Covid & injuries. There will be no fans at the damn game, except few hundred family and friends of the team.
