Is anyone going to tune in for this? I’m kind of curious but not sure I’ll go out of my way to watch with no real local team in the league.

Why do they keep launching spring football leagues? Who wants this?

I would assume, the NFL? IF there is a gem or 2 they can steal, its a win win for them.

This isn't bad at all so far. Now find a way to make the rosters kind of like baseball does the arizona fall league where 4 teams' practice squad players make up a roster. The XFL always looked like a clown show and so did that league a few years back but this looks like it has potential.

I watched some yesterday. I'll watch football at any time.

Also some decent odds on football that is so new it is hard to analyze.

Looks like a money-making opportunity.

I will be surprised if this league makes it a month...

I know football is king, so people keep trying, but none of these leagues last a month.

I saw it on some screens in Vegas. Stadiums were empty.

There were no stadiums, they played all of the games in the same stadium.

The ubiquity of gambling from your phone may be able to generate enough interest to keep this alive.

The things that they're going all cost savings on is amusing.

the G league works in the NBA because theres a glutten of high level talent that just cant quite make it to the pros.

same with baseball.

with football, theres a lot of bad players in the NFL. injuries account for a lot of it. so if youre starting a league with players that cant play NFL, theyre not going to be that exciting. i think XFL had it right where they tried to modify the game... and they had some fans too, and they were getting drunk and having fun at the games. fucking covid... they had at least one more season if not for that.

It's a great idea for a startup league. They need people to watch it on TV, they don't need home fans in the stands. Once they get access to NFL practice squad players it will be a good minor league version of the NFL.

I believe that you have it right about a smart, frugal start, but I wonder how the practice squad guys will ever come down when they're making more as practice bodies.

Unfortunately they aren't that smart as that is not the reason they did it, it was because of Covid and they didn't know what the various rules would be in different cities.
