Maybe it just bolsters the idea that he's a capable game manager type QB. Can't throw his team to victory every weekend but can move the chains if he's got a strong run game powering everything. That and a defense that makes plays.

Didn't Nick Mullens have a Purdy-like run filling in for Jimmy G(aroppolo) a few seasons back? I think even CallerBob's guy Beathard had a decent game or two. But, yeah, neither of them were able to sustain it this long or into the post-season the way Brock Turner has.

Did Nas make a similar post for Matt Cassel when he took over for Brady in 08?

I knew Cassel sucked and he lost 5 or 6 more games than Brady did the season before. Purdy has been the best 49ers quarterback in every possible way. He has the stats and the wins.

Even tho Lance is young, he's still burning up his rookie deal not contributing. Maybe the plan is to suppress Lance's value so much he'll sign a ridiculously low-dollar extension next off-season--when both Fields and Lance either get extensions or play (or in Lance's case not play again) their final guaranteed year without getting properly paid.

yeah, against a competent defense he'd have had 3 or 4 picks on some of the awful passes he threw up

His 7 game run isn't something a backup would do. Otherwise, Jimmy G and Lance aren't even backup quality players.

Not like this. He has 18 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and he's undefeated. He's put up better numbers in 6 games than Jimmy G and and Lance put up combined in the other 12 games. We would have a bust prepared for Fields if he did this in 17 games.
