Someone will want him. Lots of playoff teams with QB injuries right now.

If it happened last week he would be a Bear. I don't think they bother now

He needs to retire. He was always an average QB with average arm strength and accuracy, but his ability to run and extend plays made him a starter. Now he can't run anymore.

Donovan McNabb is McFinished. He can't wear #5 if he were a Bear either...

Dallas will claim him - Kitna still not practicing and remember they put in a claim for Orton.

It would be so Jerry Jones if they did...

I don't think the family of George McAfee would mind if they pulled that one out of the mothballs...I mean Luis Aparacio didn't mind when the Sox did it for Omar Vizquel.

In fact, the idea of retiring numbers is just plain silly.

What is sillier? Retiring a number or McNabb having to wear the same number?

Why?

I have no issue with honoring great players (monument park in the Bronx, Sox Statues, etc), but the idea of retiring a number just to retire a number is stupid to me. The exception for me is if that number has some sort of significance to the sport as a whole (42 in baseball for example).

The simple fact is that the average fan isn't going to give a rats ass about Fred McAfee or whatever the hell his name is...I didn't even know that #5 was retired for the Bears until SHARK mentioned it.

There just seems to be a willy nilly way of determining numbers to hang up...seems dumb.

Nobody knew that #18 in Denver was also retired for Frank Tripucka, another guy few in this generation even knew about when Kyle Orton was sent packing in the Jay Cutler trade.

So what constitutes "significance to the sport as a whole"? Does Jordan fit that description? What about Pippen?

Rush Limbaugh posts here?

Rush is too busy using his midday radio show to bash President Obama...

Ooops, Didn't see this thread.

McNabb is done. Bears need to stay far away from him.

they'd probably rather have their injured QB start than mcnabb at this point.
