NBC Sports reportedly lobbied the NFL to get Patriots/Broncos on "Sunday Night Football" instead of Ravens/Chargers, even though that game also has AFC playoff meaning for both teams.

Here's what happened. CBS Sports, which normally carries Sunday afternoon AFC games, lost a Broncos/Vikings' game 2 weeks ago to FOX Sports when NBC used its flex to get out of the originally scheduled "SNF" game. That was originally Colts/Patriots, but because Indianapolis got hammered in a previous game in New Orleans and hasn't won 1 game yet with Peyton Manning out, NBC ended up broadcasting Lions/Saints instead. Apparently, CBS didn't want to lose Tim Tebow and the Broncos for a third straight week and Patriots' owner Robert Kraft didn't want his team to be playing on Sunday night. Kraft happens to be on the NFL's TV committee, and CBS decided to protect this upcoming Pats/Broncos' matchup. It'll be available in about 78% of U.S. homes, and CBS will get a big rating as lead-in to its iconic newsmagazine "60 Minutes" and the season finale of "Survivor" Sunday night in prime time.

As for Ravens/Chargers, there's a degree of appeal when San Diego blew out Jacksonville on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" 2 weeks ago. The Chargers still have a chance to win the AFC West, if you can believe it.

Something tells me that Giants/Cowboys' game in Week 17 might be the finale of NBC's "Sunday Night Football" regular season in the Meadowlands. That first game in Arlington, TX was a doozy.

Interesting. You have omitted your usual comment about Eli Manning being "Rex Grossman with a Super Bowl ring."

Do you stand by that comment, or are you prepared to issue an apology?

The Cowboys/Giants' game could very well determine the NFC East title, and NBC might very well air that game to wrap the regular season. As for the Eli Manning/Rex Grossman reference, sorry to disappoint you. I have very little trust in Manning, let alone his counterpart, the Cowboys' Tony Romo.

There are no primetime games in week 17, SHARK. They want all of the playoff teams to have the same amount of time off.

You have repeatedly made an absurd comment about Eli Manning, and I was giving you the option of:

a. Graciously retracting it; or
b. Continuing the madness

I look forward to your response.

We went through this last year too, but...

...there will be a Sunday night game the last week...it's listed as "TBD" on the NBC schedule right now.

The final "Sunday Night Football" game of the season likely has to be with playoff implications. The NFC West wasn't determined until the final Sunday night game, which explained how NBC got the Rams/Seahawks' game to conclude the regular season a year ago. I have a hunch that the Cowboys/Giants' game might still have meaning. I have little trust in either Eli Manning or Tony Romo. Both guys are terribly inconsistent!

last road test for the saints, who according to payton are "focused" on the vikes and not looking forward to their next game, which is the biggest game for them of the year as far as the division.

this has been a piss poor road team and it's inexplicable since they've played dome road games and in good weather outdoors. they just look dead out there when they're not in the superdome.

Giants wetting the bed big time at home against a bad Redskins team. You can always count on the Giants to suck the week after a big win.

Killing alot of teams in fantasy playoffs, him and Eli. Announcers made it sound like the wind might be knocking down some of Rodgers passes.

Can Sam Hurd get this "team" some lithium?
