Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs today announced that Todd Haley has been relieved of his duties as head coach effective immediately.

“This was a difficult decision but one that we feel is best for the future of the Chiefs,” Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. “Although there have been bright spots at different points this season, we have not made meaningful progress and we felt that it was necessary to make a change. We appreciate Todd’s contributions during his time with the club, and we wish him well in the future.”

The Chiefs were19-27 during Haley’s tenure with the club and claimed the AFC West Division Championship in 2010.

“Todd helped this team in many valuable ways over the past three seasons, and I am thankful for his contributions,” Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli said. “Unfortunately, we have not been able to establish the kind of consistency we need to continue to build a strong foundation for the future and we believe a change is important at this time.”

The Chiefs will hold a news conference to discuss the announcement later today.

Looking at this quickly I thought it said Hanley Fired.

Thanks for being a tease.

First name being mentioned in the KC area is Kirk Ferentz. He is close to Scott Pioli, and Pioli wanted him the last time. Will he be able to get him away from Hawkeye land?

I hope for his sake that he now shaves his "By Cracky" scruf.

I guess beating the Bears didn't count for anything. :(

Reading, Sparano will get to coach the rest of the season.

I almost think the next one could be Raheem Morris of the Buccaneers. Have lost 7 straight, and the last 2 have been concerning, throwback weekend and wearing the Orange Jerseys and the Panthers come in and destroy you.

The Jaguars have their own struggles and coming off a Monday Night beatdown by the Chargers, start up 14-0, and give up 41 straight to lose.

It also doesn't help when 1 game this year at home, that was talk of your team quitting.

The guy who looks like the dad from "Tyler Perry's House of Payne", Defensive Coordinator Romeo Crennel, has been named interim head coach of the Chiefs. His assignment...Prepare a winning game plan for Aaron Rodgers and the Super Bowl Champion Packers Sunday in Kansas City. Have fun with that!

Guys, I don't see it for this reason. Kirk Ferentz is earning a lot of money coaching the Iowa football program. I don't think the Chiefs' job is that great...

Couple other names being discussed in KC today. Jeff Fisher and Josh McDaniels.

And of course the big name on the list would be Bill Cowher as he was the D Coord here for several years, but I highly doubt that is going to happen.

They would be better off sticking with Haley than the latter of those 2 guys.

If Bill Cowher wants to return to coaching, RFDC, and leave the CBS Sports studio in New York after this season, he's only going to a team that he thinks is suited to win right now and that team has to be ready to spend a lot of money as well.

I will say 6 coaches are coaching there final game with their teams tommorow, although it sounds like the Chiefs will keep Crennel, but to add to them is the

Jaguars
Rams
Dolphins
Chargers
Bucanners

If there is a surprise, it could be the Colts, Redskins, and Giants.

Shanahan said he had no doubt that he will be back next year...but this is Dan Snyder we're talking about.

And Jerry Jones said that Jason Garrett will be back regardless of outcome.

All bets are off, Phil. I know that the Raiders have a new General Manager in Reggie McKenzie, and it's my understanding that he had the power to fire Hue Jackson after a disappointing finish to a season that started so promising and was emotional when Al Davis passed away.

I know who you're referring in Jon Gruden. For the moment, he is one of the Three Stooges in ESPN's "Monday Night Football" booth with Moe, I mean Mike Tirico, and Larry, I mean Ron Jaworski. There was talk early on about Gruden leaving "MNF", but his ESPN bosses denied rumors about returning to coaching. Then again, the Dolphins still have an opening...

I would say if a Gruden gets hired, it would be Jay, maybe what they need in Tampa.

Jay, I believe was the head coach in the Arena Football League down in Orlando, I do believe and I thought he had a lot of success. I think he's currently the offensive coordinator in Cincinnati, and was helpful in the rookie development of the Zach Zaidman-looking Andy Dalton at QB. All that said, the Buccaneers do have an opening and might go the coordinator route in hiring their next head coach.

I thought the Raiders were happy with Jackson. One & done once again. Losing that last game might have put the nail in the coffin. Maybe this scenario will play out with the Bears?? A new GM comes in and then they fire the coach.

Well, the Raiders could've won the AFC West if they beat the Chargers on the final day of the regular season on their home field, Jimmy. They didn't and now Hue Jackson's on the way out after 1 season. I wonder if his postgame speech sealed his fate...

Except the new Bears GM cant fire the coach until next year. Unless of course Lovie helps Ruskell get the GM job in exchange for Ruskell not firing him. Think about that for a minute. Its a very real possibility.

Spoke out too much about having a say in next GM, and wanted more power over personnel moves. That shit only works in Chicago.
