I'm trying to figure out what she brings that the NFL desires. She doesn't pick up younger viewers who have no idea who she is. She doesn't draw older viewers as she was the person they hated in the 80s. 30-60 year old males are already watching. Did they really need to reach 30-60 year old women when they could have had someone more acceptable to a plurality? In addition, she's desperate to regain some attention. She almost needs to do something outrageous or she might as well call it a career. |

Does this mean when Kristin Cavalleri and Cutler's son is the starting QB for the Bears in 2037 we are going to have to watch Lady Gaga do the halftime show as we cheer Jay Jr on to glory and try to live up to his fathers 3 SB rings and 2 SB MVP awards? |

Here are your top selling US bands with my commentary. 1 Beatles - Mostly dead, McCartney did it 2005 2 Elvis - Dead 3 Garth Brooks - He retired, now just does Vegas. Probably too country 4 Led Zeppelin - Too dead, but maybe a Jimmy Page solo thing? 5 Eagles - When hell freezes over; could they ever decide on what songs? Plus maybe want too much money -- might be easier to get a solo out artist out of them 6 Billy Joel - Definite in the next five years 7 Pink Floyd - Mostly dead and English -- Waters may do it at some point? 8 Elton John - English and a bit of a poofer 9 Barbra Streisand - Not for football 10 AC/DC - Should happen in next five years. A little edgier than NFL would like. Kind of Aussie too. 11 Michael Jackson - Dead 12 George Strait - Too country, might be dead for all I know. 13 Aerosmith - 2001 14 The Rolling Stones - 2006 15 Bruce Springsteen - 2009 16 Madonna - 2012 17 Mariah Carey - Not for football 18 Metallica - Too hardcore and scary for America 19 Van Halen - This hasn't happened yet? The NFL doesn't pick half time people for viewers anymore. They don't need to do that now. EVERYBODY watches. They get between 105 and 115 million viewers no matter what. Viewership doesn't depend on the halftime. People watch halftime cuz it's become a "thing" no matter who is doing it. There is nothing else on anyway. Where are you gonna go? They picked Madonna cuz they haven't done her yet. That's all. |

newper, the "not for football" tag you are applying to some of those might be true, but I'd say the fact that Madonna is doing this year's show is proof that isn't going to stop them. |

In recent years we have had old white guys, old black women (Prince), now old white women (Madonna). What about an old black guy? I would really enjoy Buddy Guy but Stevie Wonder would also work. |
