Can he sit out a year? Would he? Whomever is the Saints QB in 2012, there will likely be a bit more attention paid to putting them on the turf by other teams around the league--no need for an explicit bounty there. An aging Brees in the cross-hairs without a long term deal? Maybe the NFL will strip New Orleans of their franchise tag for this season as part of the fall-out. Aints ain't got a 1st round draft pick to take away. Pats have that. |

take the pick away? for what? i bet the ravens and steelers and many other teams have similar bounties ..this is not a big deal and the penalty should be 200k fine..not draft picks or anything that serious. |

Like Watergate, the cover-up is turning out to be a bigger deal than the actual crime. Saints GM Loomis repeatedly lied to Goodell's investigators to provide cover for the bounty program to continue (NFL started investigating in 2010, bounty program ran through the 2011 season). Don't see Eliot Ness Goodell letting that go with the financial equivalent of a parking ticket. |

Now reports are that Brees is pissed off at being franchised. Hey Drew, go fuck yourself. The 60 million you've made over your career thus far must be tough to take along with the 14 million more you'll get this year for being franchised I know but heres hoping you'll be able to make ends meet on that.
