Browns have a place to play. Bears are just another tenant of the Chicago Park District. $$$

Well, you may have answered your own question. While they are denying LA right now, I would bet its on the table behind closed doors. LA team has the opportunity to be worth that.

I cant see them letting another team leave Cleveland. Especially with a relatively new stadium.

Bears are the only team that becomes worth more as the expiration on their stadium lease gets closer

and as their titular (he, he) approaches death

Forbes estimated a depreciation of their worth by almost 1 billion based on management.

Yeah, apparently that's how much the new Cleveland Browns were sold for. The next question. How much longer will Team President Mike Holmgren want to run this faceless franchise?

In fact, here's the skinny on the new deal...

Regarding the Bears worth, to have the smallest stadium in the NFL in the second largest (and football crazy) market was a gigantic miss.

Everything I've heard is that there are a lot of McCaskey's looking to cash out once Ginny kicks it. Publicly, the family has said they have taken steps to ensure that the team remains in the family, post Ginny - but I'll be curious to see how that works. Especially when factoring in Estate Taxes - I would assume they would be looking at some kind of trust vehicle?

Meanwhile Pat Ryan (formerly of Aon) has first right to purchase any team shares that hit the market. But he's in his 70s now as well.

If I had the money, I'd pay a billion for the Browns. There aren't too many football franchises not worth that amount.

Cleveland has nothing going for it right now. The Cavs are a joke, the Indians are an afterthought, but the Browns can easily turn it around.

Agreed the t.v rights are a goldmine ...every team is turning a nice profit....@ mel ... how much is the estate tax going to cost the children when she dies?

You are correct about Cleveland sports, especially after LeBron James' "Decision". There's absolutely nothing for sports fans in that city to get excited.

It's also true with the Rams, Jags, and Bills because of the fact that they are prime candidates to move to LA once the lease expires.

Then again, they can't all go to LA, so someone might end up overpaying a few hundred million for a shit-market team

Who the fuck would want to own the Browns? The team is dead inside, a moldering, rotting corpse that happens to still be breathing.

They're going to turn it around.
