"Guess I shoulda forked over that dough!" (AP)If you were looking for the team take on the Dallas Cowboys after their Sunday 16-10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, you may have gone to Cowboys.com to do so. And if you did so, you would have been rather surprised to see what website popped up.

Yeah, we're thinking that this isn't what Jerry Jones had in mind. The debacle actually started in 2007, when the Cowboys organization had a winning bid of $275,000 on the Cowboys.com domain name but didn't pay up due to an internal miscommunication. From DomainNameNews.com, back then:

The domain name brought in a $275,000 bid from a phone-in bidder at the recent TRAFFIC domain live auction in Hollywood, Florida. The bidder had been earlier identified to be a representative from the Dallas Cowboys NFL team. An inside source confirmed with DomainNameNews that the deal began to fall apart over a misunderstanding with the bidder on what the bid of "275″ actually meant. It appears the bidder thought they were buying the domain for $275.00 rather than $275,000.

The site sat for several years, but now, the owners of the domain have set things up.

The Dallas Cowboys can still be found at DallasCowboys.com, of course, but you'd assume that the team would have liked to own the shorter and seemingly more obvious domain name as well. However, those pesky extra digits befuddled them, a then-silent bidder swept in and took the name for a larger bid, and a whole lot of people looking for news and notes on America's Team will instead get a dating site for "men who enjoy the same country living lifestyle."

Are you a country western cowboy looking for a man to ride into the sunset with? Come and create [a] relationship with singles [who] share your appreciation for the country way of life. You'll be able to find your perfect match here.

"We are extremely excited to have decided on a direction for this property," Darren Cleveland recently said in a press release. Cleveland is the President of City Advertising and part of the owners' group. "Gay dating is a primary target for this website. However, we will also serve the needs of straight daters as well."

Well, diversity is a good thing

There's a Cowboys blog, I think it's SBNation's, called "Blogging the Boys." Burritoest sports blog name ever. Hate to have that on the screen when someone walks by. I still remember having to explain to a girlfriend that there was nothing suspicious about Wet Hot American Summer in the netflix queue.

have to admit...I have accidently typed in cowboys.com before. Now if I make that mistake again, it looks like it could be more disgusting than dallas cowboys game results in recent seasons!

I have also "accidently" typed in whitehouse.com before as well....instead of whitehouse.gov That's what I tell my wife anyway! :P
