Quote: Report: Cardinals “very close” to hiring Andy Reid as head coach
A day after he was fired by the Eagles, Andy Reid may be close to getting another head-coaching job. Tim Ring, the sports director at KTVK-TV in Arizona, is reporting that the Cardinals are very close to hiring Reid as their next head coach. Other reports have also suggested that Reid is the favorite to land the Cardinals job. Jason La Canfora of CBS and Mike Jurecki of XTRA are among those who have reported that Reid is expected to land the job. The Cardinals are believed to be interviewing their own defensive coordinator, Ray Horton, today. Horton is a minority, so that interview would satisfy the requirements of the Rooney Rule and leave the Cardinals free to make their hire. If they’re only interviewing Horton for that reason, then the Cardinals are violating the spirit of the Rooney Rule, but they wouldn’t be violating the letter of the rule and would therefore be in the clear with the league office. If Reid gets the job in Arizona it would reunite him with quarterback Kevin Kolb, who has been a major disappointment since Reid traded him from Philadelphia to Arizona. Cardinals President Michael Bidwill has said he still believes Kolb can be an effective starter, and Bidwill may see Reid as the coach to make that happen. |

Mortensen reporting Chiefs and Andy Reid near deal. Guess the Cardinals did not have their guy picked out. |

I am literally begging for anybody to please explain the rush to hire a coach who has won exactly zero (0) super bowl championships, and whose team completely quit on him at the end of this year. What great information am I not privy to here? Is Andy Reid a wizard or a magician? |

What great information am I not privy to here? Is Andy Reid a wizard or a magician? his team quit on him last year as well after he was given a "dream team" worth of talent His offense was absolutely stacked with a top RB, two excellent WR, a good TE, an acceptable QB and lots of good complementary talent. |

KC and GM Scott Pioli part ways. Kind of seems like odd timing. They are supposedly on the verge of hiring a coach and their GM is now done? Shouldn't you get rid of the GM before working on hiring a coach??? |

Shouldn't you get rid of the GM before working on hiring a coach??? Pioli was not part of the coach search. He was essentially fired already. Not sure why he was still on the payroll. |

Either way, it is messed up way of doing things. You should hire a GM first and then let the GM be a part of hiring a new coach. |

From everything I have read, Reid will be making all of the football decisions and report directly to Hunt. Reid will be choosing his GM, which I believe will be Heckert. |

The more interesting part is that Pioli could wind up working for Emery. |

I suppose it would be mean to bring up Parcell's "the chef should be the guy buying the groceries" quip, but fuck it... |

Also, I never knew they were mormons. The drugs make more sense now. |

Seems that was a fake account reporting that. It was retweeted by 10 foot midget. Thank God, I cannot imagine a team spending that much on a coach |

Bill Belichick is making 7.5 million by various accounts. Apparently Kraft gives him a bonus as well. But this Kelly deal is impossible. If not, it's the dumbest damn thing I've seen in a long time. |

The Eagles would seem to be a better fit for Chip Kelly than Cleveland, given the Offense that the Eagles ran under Reid compared to the Browns. Besides, who in the world wants to live in Cleveland & coach the Browns? I believe the Browns & Bills will both settle for a 3rd rate head coach, just as they both have done with the last few head coaches that each team hired. |
