The Vikings will play their last year in the Metrodome this upcoming season and then 2 years in the Gophers outdoor stadium while the news Vikings stadium is rebuilt on the site of the Metrodome.

They want a dome stadium to avoid cold weather, but also because they hope to host the Super Bowl again.

I have to admit I think the Metrodome gets a bad rap. It is the only stadium to host the Super Bowl, the World Series and the Final Four. It also hosted Monster Truck and Snocross.

It was an excellent home field advantage for the Twins and for the Vikings. The Twins got their outdoor stadium that allowed them to pay the fat cash to Mauer and now his numbers have really dropped off and their home field advantage is gone.

I think it is hilarious that the article talks about a retractable dome... I guess they can keep it open for the tractor pulls in June.
