I predict the Bears take Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson, at which point they will release Hester. My Beardown conspiracy theory is that the Bears are keeping Hester around as insurance against losing this guy in the draft. |

I have seen several mocks showing Patterson dropping below the Bears. Those measurables seem too spectuacular to pass up at a spot like #20. He is both the speed WR and playmaker Emery talks about. I think they are trying to trade Hester. I would be shopping him hard to a team like SF who lost Ginn and has an abundance of draft picks. I'd take a 4-5 rounder for him. |

Shariff (don't like it) Floyd is the best player in this draft. If I were the Chiefs I would lock up Albert and take Floyd. I know it is difficult taking a DT #1 because they have a short and dangerous shelf life. |

Saw him on that Sports Science breakdown on ESPN where they show how fast, how high they jump, etc... He would fill out the receivers for Cutler. Maybe get another solid lineman in the 2nd which this draft seems to have a lot of and I am liking things. Seen a lot of mock drafts with the Bears getting Ertz from ND. Didn't we just get a solid TE in free agency? |

Ertz is from Stanford and would be a pretty damn horrible pick at 20. |

I don't like Ertz or Eifert that high. However, if Emery gets his wish of a trade down, both could be acceptable. I think they are second round talents. |

I wouldn't be shocked if the Bears trade down from #20 come Thursday night. They have only 5 picks as things stand now and not much $$$$ to work with either. They won't be alone. Other teams around the NFL starting with Kansas City at #1 will also wheel & deal come NFL Draft Night. Monty Hall would be proud... |

I like Eifert more than Ertz but it may just be because I've seen more of him. I think Eifert is a late 1st round 25-32 type guy. I've seen some pick him as high at 13 which I think is crazy. Ertz seems like an early 2nd round guy. But, at 20, there should be at least 4 or 5 guys that the Bears could use over Eifert. |

Agreed on all points. You are right, I meant Eifert but both guys seem like solid TE's. Just would like to see the Bears go with a guy with more potential impact. |

Their production is pretty close. Eifert is faster, has longer arms and looks to me to be a little more rugged for blocking. The draft is heavy in TE so I think there will be a better use of 1-2 round picks. Later guys I have heard talked about are Kelce from Cincinnatti and the other TE from Stanford Tololio. Tololio is 6-7 and 265 but as we just saw with Davis, sometimes the guys who look the part can't play. My sleeper TE is a guy out of Nevada named Zach Sudfield. He has the size at 6-6 275 to stay in and block every down. He doesn't have elite speed but he always seems to be open. |

Emery said he wanted to draft guys who weren't limited to a single system. However, every west coast offense needs a multi skilled fullback. My guy in the late rounds is Zack Line out of SMU. He is 6, 230 coming out of college. I would bet he could add another 10 pounds once he gets to be a pro. He was a HB at SMU so he has the running skills and he appears to be a pretty good blocker. 7th round steal. |

spmack wrote: Bears are gonna take WR Ryan Swope. I see him as more of a combine star. He had a lightning fast 40 with good size. I watch a few TAM games every year and it never struck me that this guy was getting open like other elite speedsters like Goodwin out of Texas or Austin at WV. This isn't to say that I don't like Swope. I just think that 40 time will get him overdrafted. If he is there in the 4th great. Same with Goodwin. He is a pure project at anything but KR/PR. 6th or later is a good time for him but his 40 time will end up getting him in the 4th. Goodwin is a guy who always seemed open but is not really a WR yet. |

While I am sure I will live to regret this comment, I don't think the Bears have a need at WR/TE at number 1. With Marshall, Jeffrey, Bennett, and Bennett #2, they no longer have a gaping hole at the WR position. There are bigger needs on the OL and at LB. I would imagine the Bears would feel better about paying first round money to a guy who is expected to start his first year than a WR who will more than likely be a back up. |

I have the sense we are in the Era of Offensive Geniusness and the Bears will stockpile offensive skill players the way they used to do safeties. They'll fill defensive needs in middle rounds and free agency and use high-profile picks for elite athletic talents at skills and offensive line. I PREDICT! |

I fully expect either Cooper or Warmack to be there at 20 with Emery sending me into a rant after not taking them. I think they need to come out of this draft with at least one starting OL. There are plenty to go around in the first three rounds including guys like OG Warford out of Kentucky, T/G/C Jones out of Bama or C Scwheinke out of Cal who will all make it to the second round. I'd really love to have someone that comes in and takes that center job from Garza. |

I'm starting to wonder if Te'o is Mike Singletary. The real Singletary - not the one that B&B want you to think sucked. |

I jsut saw so many good LB taken in the second round last year that I can't help but think he is being rated too highly, as is Ogletree. |

I actually think he'll be pretty good. He seems like a 10-year type guy that makes enough plays that you'll notice him, borderline Pro-Bowl type guy. He had a horrible NC game but, overall, he made plays and not just the interceptions. He seems to have good instincts. I just don't want the circus that goes with him. |
