But one of his ex-teammates is shedding some light on how prevalent Williams’ smoking was. While appearing on WQAM radio in Miami, former Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder discussed Williams’ use before games.

“Remember that Buffalo game, the 200-yard game?” Crowder said. “Smoked the night before. Talk to Ricky. He was doing it, that’s what he did. Ricky has social anxiety, and he smoked weed. Ricky’s marijuana didn’t affect the team until he got caught smoking. . . . Him smoking weed, sitting at his house smoking weed, didn’t affect anybody but Ricky. He got high and then he sobered up and then he went to practice the next day.”

Williams tested positive for marijuana multiple times during his 11-year career. He also played for the Baltimore Ravens and the New Orleans Saints during his career and rushed for 10,009 yards and led the league in rushing with 1,853 yards in 2002.

why would you need to smoke weed for your anxiety disorder if you were going to be sitting in your house anyway

Anxiety attacks can happen anywhere, even in your living room.

8)

ETA: I've loved Ricky since before I knew he was 8) He wore #34 at the University of Texas in honor of Earl, and that's when he had me.

Time and place don't necessarily dictate when a panic attack hits you ... to be honest when I saw that "Sunday Night" thread on what gets you down, I can think of a few occasions where (when I actually worked a full week) if I'd been off for an extra day or two, for no good reason whatsoever a panic attack would hit that was rooted in nothing rational, logical, or factual ... it just happened for some reason.

Having said that, I still find it quite suspiscious when anyone says they smoke weed to stop panic attacks because, as of yet, there's no real level of proof that it does anything .... their "condition" I'll take at face value, but the "solution" still is yet to be determined. If I had to bet one way or the other I'd bet that it does have more than enough potential to be a proper possible solution, but there's nothing real that suggests, just heresay and off-hand commentary.

In case someone wants to make erroneous assumptions, let me quash them now by stating I do very much support "legalization", but not because I think weed itself is so great.

another pot virgin here guys. relieving anxiety is just the first thing weed does... it can even cure whatever is bothering you by consuming copious amounts; you won't even remember what is wrong. the problem is the mailman who keeps bringing you bills as reminders. i say legalize weed and get rid of the post office.

Well numbnuts, two things:

1) I'm a jazz piano player, so even you might be able to infer a thing or two based on that statement, and:

2) there's more than one bored member that can attest to the fact that your "assessment" is not accurate.

can we just agree that "the night before" is the stupidest thing we've ever read?
who fucking cares? Guy was straight before he went to bed. Who cares what he did the night before?

"Half the county" doesn't smoke pot.

How has smoking pot helped your personal and professional life Ike?

A huge percentage of people have smoked pot or do smoke pot, and I have no problem with it.

That said, nothing I've ever known makes one more self-conscious that smoking weed. It's weird to me that anyone views it as a cure for social anxiety.

Well, that was my kind of thought, too.

Of all the people I've known in my life (prior to the CSFMB) I've known about 5 guys that ever smoked on a semi-regular basis.

dont you have beardown to suck on your titties?

also, some 25 million admit to smoking weed regularly. over 100 million admit they want it legal. so, in theory of reality, one half of the population smokes. its basic algebra.

That was my experience with Pot exactly. I felt self conscious & paranoid. So I quit smoking weed in 1978

isnt a HUGE part of peoples' problem is that they don't self reflect enough, resulting in dis-compassion for others?
