I am surprised we don't see more mid level college teams going with this type of approach to gain an advantage.

I welcome anybody who happens to have one of the 32 NFL jobs to do this of which about 600 people are qualified for and would like to be coaches.

For college, I welcome anyone who has one of the 120 NCAA I-A jobs to do this of which about 3000 people are qualified for and would like to be coaches.

For I-AA I imagine there are about 200 jobs with about 4000 people waiting.

This will never happen. I feel it is likely kickoffs will be eliminated before a team willingly stops punting at the D1A or NFL level.

It will probably be another decade or so before an NFL coach attempts to do this. The incentives are simply way too skewed in favor of "playing it safe" or doing the conventional thing thanks to the results-oriented bias of pretty much all NFL coverage. If going for it works, you're a genius temporarily, but if it fails, you're a dumbass forever. Even last week, Marvin Lewis was praised for playing like a conservative idiot on fourth and inches just because he took one risk that didn't work out earlier in the game ("He's learned his lesson"- Dumbass Dan Dierdorf, 2013). Similarly, look at how much of a wuss Belichick has become since 2009 or how Trestman has been criticized severely in the last week for going for it, as if it's the sole reason the Bears lost.

I think we're starting to see more open thinking on this stuff with Belichick, Riverboat Ron Rivera, and yes, Trestman, but an across-the-board "never punt" philosophy is still a long way's away.

NFL players are too good for on sides to work with any regularity. Not sure in the NFL rule but in high school you can no longer go down and hit a player before the ball goes ten yards so it has made on siding that much harder.

I do believe teams should go for it on 4th down more often then they do.

Absolutely. Attempting a 48 yard field goal, on 4th and 1, is incredibly stupid. The numbers prove it. Jacksonville gains 4.4 yards per play. The Packers gain 6.4 yards per play. That doesn't mean teams should line up in a power formation, and try to pound it up the gut, but run your offense. If you don't have a play in the playbook that can gain a yard or two, you probably shouldn't be coaching an NFL team.

My ass aches when I hear the announcements question the coach for not attempting a long field goal.
