Agree, he's good, made a couple of big time great throws with some great catches that got him rings, but still damn lucky.

without those throws and some amazing catches, he is a game manager. Dilfer like.

I just hate hearing Dilfer as a QB analyst! Ugh, when he talks about guys that need to step up their game and they cant manage it, wow!

Agreed. But, he isn't THAT much worse than NFL QB "expert" Ron Jaworski.

Jaws does his homework and was better than Dilfer.

There's a lot of revisionist history going on here. The idea that Manning's two rings rest on the strength of a "couple" of good throws and catches is absurd. You don't win two damn Superbowls because of one or two "lucky" throws. He's having a bad year this year, the whole team is, but he's a baller otherwise who put the team on his back in both SB games, especially the second one.

Rod Martin would laugh at this remark.

And have 5 picks in a Dilfer matchup.

He probably isn't as big of a crybaby as Peyton either.

Even with today's inflated passing numbers, you don't throw for 5,000 yards as a game manager. Filter wouldn't come close to that.

He has the clutch gene but he can be awful just about every other game. I believe he's thrown 5 interceptions 3 times this year. Cutler hasn't even done that yet.

I bet Favre has.

He'll be laughing when he wins another Super Bowl next year.

This is the way the Giants operate. They suck, and then they win the Super Bowl, and then they suck again until they win another Super Bowl.

he is a good QB, but he doesnt win rings without two of best catches in SB history. So, it is easy to rest the rings on those 2 catches. Both games are over if those catches arent made. That can be said about a ton of different catches, but especially Tyree, if he doesnt make this catch, this thread, nor the discussion of him being GREAT doesnt even enter the lexicon. Is it a good throw? Hell no, but it is an amazing catch, and Eli gets the credit for making it???

Definitely not an amazing throw, but it was an amazing play from Eli.

He's having a terrible year but will bounce back next year. he's never been great n always has too many pics but those superbowls were primarily outstanding defense n pass rush...one extremely lucky throw with a helmet catch but that sideline pass to cruz was beautiful n all touch. he's a better version of Cutler who doesn't get hurt.
