Have him join Matt Millen. They could get a local Detroit Radio Talk Show.

Good riddance.

Semi-serious thought: Why not Lovie? Get a capable OC with a system that maximizes the talents of Bush, CJ, et al., and then have Lovie bring discipline everywhere else.

Ive been beating that drum for a while. A coach to mesh that defense and play a more ball control offense and they'd be dangerous

He would let those goons do whatever they want to do.
That team needs, dare I say NEEDS discipline.
That ain't Lovie.

I'd be fine with the offense they have now. In fact, I don't want Lovie, if he hasn't changed, going near the offense at all - and I say that as a Lovie fan.

They might not need discipline if you remove Schwartz's personality from the equation.

Lovie would have that defense playing very well and the offense is good enough

Isn't it though? The Bears were pretty disciplined.

I don't think we see Lovie the same way. To me, Lovie's teams were very disciplined, especially compared to the zoo at Detroit. The guys didn't want to disappoint Lovie, and that bred its own kind of discipline in which everyone was wedded to the defensive system.

I disagree... a "players coach" means that he lets the players do whatever they want. I never saw Lovie as any kind of disciplinarian.

Make sense...okay let me ask you this: if we agree he's not a disciplinarian in the Coughlin and/or Cowher sense, would you also agree that his teams were disciplined anyway? I think both are true.

I did not think his teams were disciplined. Too many offsides, false starts.... not exactly disciplined IMHO

I don't think that's what "player's coach" means. What it means is a coach that doesn't show up at the press conference and say, "Well, it's hard to win when your quarterback is a piece of shit. We try to tell Jay what to do, but he's completely uncoachable. It's a fucking shame he is wasting all those tools." Even though it's true.

D line with tons of pressure is all about Lovie, then he can pretend to be a genius with his amazing secondary work.

Everytime I hear Lovies defensive philosophy its Pressure the QB, LB's that can cover and a good safety!!!! That just leaves the 2 CB's that he doesnt need to be great. So give him 8 or 9 great players and he will give you a great defense!!!!!

And he can bring Marinelli with him....ohhh....wait....

Hopefully they squandered the prime of Calvin Johnson and he starts to decline.

Same thing was sad when the last coach was fired.

They will screw up the next coaching hire as well.
