I am pretty sure McCown could have thrown to that wide open packer.

I think the rules changes have made the big arm a little less valuable

Nope. Cutler has a stronger arm than Peyton, Brady, Brees, and Rodgers. They have everything else that Jay lacks.

If the big arm is attached to Cutler's body, the answer is no.

Before people defend Cutler, the Pack tried to hand the Bears the game in the first half. Where was Cutler? He should have buried the Pack in the 1st half.

The greatest myth is that a "big arm" has ever been needed to win titles in the NFL.

Bradshaw and Namath are the biggest big arm winners in NFL history. 3/4 of the Steel Curtain titles were because of the defense and Namath's Super Bowl win came with a whopping 17 points by the running Jets.

Montana, Staubach, Starr, Brady. No real big arms there. But 11 titles.

Jeff George had the best arm I've ever seen. He could make all the throws. He just had trouble making the right decisions. Big arm guys have a tendency to hold the ball longer which gives them more time to make bad decisions and the defense more time to fuck them up.

No. I've said it 1,000 times.

Manning, Brees, Alex Smith, Rivers, Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, Foles, etc are your weak to medium armed QBs...

Stafford, Cutler, Newton, Kaepernick, etc are your very strong-armed QB's. Which group would you choose?

To summarize, arm strength is nice, but a very bad indicator of performance.

Agreed. The fact that Brady isn't anywhere on that list really pisses me off. How do you forget the greatest QB?

I didn't know where to categorize him. His arm isn't bad, but it isn't great. I give you the honors with Brady...

I'd say he's in the "medium" category
