The Indianapolis Colts, who will face the New England Patriots in the AFC divisional playoffs Saturday, agreed to contract terms Monday with former Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch.

Branch has 518 receptions for 6,644 yards with 39 touchdowns in 140 regular season games (111 starts).

Branch also has 64 catches for 948 yards with four touchdowns in 17 postseason games (13 starts). He is a two-time Super Bowl winner with the New England Patriots and was MVP of Super Bowl XXXIX when he tied a record with 11 receptions in the game. In all, he has 21 catches in three Super Bowl appearances.

Branch set a team playoff record with 153 receiving yards on eight catches in the Patriots' divisional playoff against the Denver Broncos in 2005.

Indianapolis also promoted wide receiver Josh Lenz from the practice squad, released defensive tackle Christian Tupou from the practice squad, and placed defensive end Fili Moala and cornerback Greg Toler on injured reserve.

Lenz joined the Colts practice squad on Nov. 11, 2013. Tupou appeared in five games with the Chicago Bears before being released on Dec. 26, 2013 and signed to the Colts practice squad on Friday.

Moala played in all 16 regular season games (six starts) and finished with 26 tackles (13 solo), 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup. Toler played nine games (seven starts) during the regular season and started Sunday's wild-card playoff win over the Kansas City Chiefs before leaving with a groin injury. He had 24 tackles (17 solo) and one interception in the regular season.

He can't actually play for them, though, right? You can't just bring a guy in off the streets to play in the playoffs, at least in the NHL and MLB.

That's kinda bullshit. You should have to have your playoff-eligible roster in at the end of the regular season.

Too many injuries in NFL for that to happen.

Knowing Belichek, Branch is acting as a double agent.
