This may seem crazy to some but considering all of the rule changes I think you have to put them in the conversation. They dominated in an era where every rule change is made to help the offense. What they did tonight against the best offense in the NFL was beyond impressive. |

They absolutely have to be in the discussion with the '85 Bears and '01 Ravens. Now if only they would have battered the hell out of Goober. And their head coach continues to do one of the most masterful jobs I've ever seen. |

No. I don't personally have memories of '85, but I do of 2000. That Ravens defense was the best I have ever seen, this Seattle team included. I've said this before on here, but I'm not entirely sure Seattle's defense this year is better than San Francisco's was. |

No....however, very good, They might not have sacked manning, but they rushed him, and tipped enough that it was the same impact.....with letting him live. Great scheme by coach pete. Edge Rushers, line up wide, make QB step up, throw in the middle short, clock the WR's on short routes with huge secondary. Doesnt hurt when coach knows who was really good in college. Well drafted team that fit right into the scheme. Excellent organizational win there. |

SF has a great defense and may have more talented players at some positions but Seattle were statistically better than them. IIRC it wasn't even close. Their numbers are crazy. The Bears and the Ravens benefitted from playing in an era where they were allowed to be physically intimidating. This was "clean" shutdown football. They made Brees and Manning look pedestrian in 3 games. |

They hit home runs on a lot of late round picks. |

If you never saw the 85 Bear you just cant appreciate the complete FEAR they put into teams. After all these years and all these teams, every survey I ever see of the best super bowl team ever, the Bears still come out on top by wide margins. I think ESPNS survey had them get 467% of the vote! You would think the legend of this team would have faded as the years go on. That defensive backfield may be the best ever. Much better than the Steel Curtain's group and perhaps just better than the Raiders of the late 70s early 80s....given the rule changes. Can't speak to the 60s Packers that I didn't see. |

I had my daughter watching them but she is 6 mo. and she will pretty much anything that moves but she was seriously swatting at the tv when it was on. |

Marino still completing another 30-35 other passes that the Bears couldn't match. |
