Theres probably only a few of us old salts who can speak halfway knowledgeably on the subject for having seen both play but for those that did, this is a pretty easy call. Id take McMahon over Cutler anyday of the week. Reason, no need to bring Sid Luckman into this ok?

Pretty similar actually. Not in so called talent on the scouting sheet but gunslinger like Stabler. Until Jay wins its Mac.

McMahon was a real leader. Smart, had a better arm then people gave him credit for, because he did throw many wounded ducks, but McMahon knew how to win games, which is the whole point.

It's the reason why coaches kept signing him, you wanted the guy on your team.

So he was basically the opposite of Cutler?

Plus, my ultimate Button 48, gave me my first beer! Mooshead! Took the cap off with his teeth, from the cooler in his car, under the North stands after a game where the players used to park!

Maybe I was 13? lol

Then Rickey Watts walks by and says to mcMcahon, "got one for me....?" McMahon says "Nope"

McMahon owned the offense, he made sure nobody fucked up. He got in your face if you fucked up, but it wasnt to show you up, it was to make sure you didnt fuck up again and the players knew it. McMahon was famous for going to Dinner on Thursday nights with the OL and headbutting them during games. Legendary bad ass stuff.

Yeah BF that was different time though. Ditka knew he had Mac and all was fine. Let him run a little out of the margins. Since coaches are more control. No McMahon these days.

Both seem like they would have fit in well at Wrigleyville bars in their day

 I just get sick of hearing the whole Cutler is the best qb in Bears history thing all the time. Based on what? Douglass had a better arm, McMahon was a better leader, fucking Erik Kramer would put up the same numbers throwing to Marshall and Jeffrey. Hell, he hasn't even had a better year than what his back up put up last year. Guess Im not smart enough to see he's the best the Bears have ever had.

If Cutler is the best QB in Bears history, then Tony Romo is the best QB in Cowboys history.

It's based on his stats.

McMahon was only healthy for a very brief amount of time. like 83-85. he had shoulder problems and then was never the same guy.

I'll go with Steve Fuller over Cutler. Fuller won a playoff game in a hostile Washington stadium. What has Cutler won in crunch time?

16 fourth quarter comebacks, 20 game-winning drives.

Damn statistics!

Seriously though,it seems when the stakes get higher,Jay does something stupid or maybe it's just perception.

That is about what you'd expect for his amount of games played. It looks like a lot until you compare them to other players who are not "clutch" like Romo or Ryan.

The number of 4th-quarter comebacks is the lamest stat out there. If he's so good, his team shouldn't be losing after 3 quarters.

Unfortunately, Cutler doesn't play defense or special teams. Or catch the ball. Or take hand-offs. Or block.

Yea, I don't think he's anything super special late in games. It was more just to answer the literal question of what he has won in crunch time.

The QB is the most important player on the field. He may not do all of things listed but he has some of, if not the most, influence on the game.

He does however, throw interceptions.

True enough. You think that Cutler is the best the Bear has ever had?

I'm young enough where I don't have a personal view on it. But statistically, I think it's hard to argue any other way.

I feel like this is a back door shot at Troy Aikman

Statistically, they aren't close.

That is the problem with using statistics from the past to now.

But the thing is, there is no 3 time Super Bowl winning QB in Bears history to consider.

I understand your point, but dont care for the back door shot at Troy (even thought rumor has it he doesnt mind back door shots)

Equating statistics from different eras is pretty dumb. I thought this was obvious. Unless we are saying Matthew Stafford is one of the best quarterbacks of all time.
