Man, the Raiders finally sucked their way out of the Week 1 Monday doubleheader, huh.

The NFL needs to cut this shit out with stacking noon games. Let's get some equal distribution here.

I disagree. Loading up one timeslot makes the coverage maps look prettier, and every now and then you get the delightful intimacy of the Fox/CBS G-Team where it's just John Lynch on solo play-by-play and a guy with a standard-def Handicam.

it doesn't leave scott hanson with much to work with in the mid afternoons. it gets lonely there...i like about 4 late afternoon games.

i don't wanna make any predictions but if the saints drop week one to damn atlanta, i'm gonna shit a bird.

Why is Fox showing an AFC road game? Did we completely throw out the conference-based television deals?

Post subject:  Re: Week 1

For the 2014 season, the NFL has instituted a "cross-flex" policy allowing Fox games to be moved to CBS and CBS games moved to Fox to protect each local market; this effectively guarantees each Fox and CBS affiliate in a team's primary market to carry at least one game from the team during the season.

cross-flex!

You can be sure Mike Carey won't be officiating Redskins/Texans (or any other game for that matter). He was so appalled by the Redskins highly offensive name, yet continued to collect NFL paychecks for 23 years. So unfortunate.

i don't think he officiates anymore actually...

That's why I said the "or any other game." Guess I could have clarified.

A few people from football-refs.com as well as Adam Hoge have sources that say the new ref Brad Allen who replaced Mike Carey will be the ref for Bills @ Bears.

I wonder if there is a group for you and Kirkwood, it would probably be advisable. You guys might need some help.

Philbin was educated by the most glorious franchise in the NFL and now the program is humming.

That may also explain why we'll be getting Jim Nantz, the very boring Phil Simms & Tracy Wolfson on the sidelines when the Bears & Lions start the NFL's annual Thanksgiving Day tripleheader later this season. CBS, not FOX, will have that game in Detroit.

I liked how the Browns played today as well. I thought they'd be the worst team in the NFL but they aren't that bad. The poor defensive showing though was surprising. Pettine prides himself on D and it was total garb. Everyone saw Tate getting injured. Can't even get past week 1? Yeesh

OK, so it's clear the new headsets for the referees clearly have a channel for Gooddell to order games get tightened up. This Indy/Denver game is conveniently tightening up with the help of laundry.
