Def see the logic. Wasn't being utilized in Seattle. And/or perhaps there are unreported lockerroom issues due to him not getting the damn ball.

He did have 3 TDs (All called back cuz of penalties) a couple of weeks ago. He looked good.

I don't get it. I mean, you didn't get help in return for this year's team. You could have made the same trade in the off season.

Is he great? No. But why weaken this years team when you don't have to do it? He can make a game changing play in a playoff game that might be the difference.

Only thing I can think of is they're about to make another trade for a stud and needed the cap money to do it. Then it would make sense.

Are they going to sign that rugby player that wants to play in the NFL?

Did they need to free up money to pay Wilson?

I was surprised when I saw his season stats. I thought he gained like 500 yards against Green Bay in Week 1 alone.

NEED - No

But probably want to, next year is Wilsons final year...and I dont think they want to go into his final year without a deal on the table, then he is UFA...Unless they tag him...which stil isnt cheap.

B&B mentioned he will be paid around $20M. When you look at the top three QBs paid in Ryan, Manning and Stafford... well, I'll take Wilson. That said, its gotta kill your team's ability to keep a well-talented team.

if B&B mentioned it...then it must be! lol

Wilson is 25 years old, 26 during the season.

I think it's a no brainer to give him a $50 mill signing bonus, spread over 3 years. $16.66 M a year than make is $20-22-24 M for the enxt 3 years, if you keep him. The reason I say "IF" is because his game is speed and running. At age 31, will he still be a runner? I know he doesnt take many hits, but it gives flexibility. Simialr to the cutler deal.

Yeah. They'll need cap money for Wilson. But Wilson will get his new money in the off season. Like I said, if the Jets were willing to do the trade now, they would have done it in the off season. They're 1-6. So it's not like they doing it to make a playoff push. So I still don't get it. Why deplete your team now when you don't have to do it.

IF? If you don't keep him, you get fired in two years unless you find some crazy good replacement guy, and I don't know a lot of GMs that want to take that risk. You can let a lot of positions walk, but you can't let QB go... too much fire and passion from the 12th man. Steve Hutchinson is a story for a week or two (even though he's a HOF guy) but if you let a QB go, you will feel the wrath of the meatballs.

This makes more sense on why they got rid of him.

Reports: Harvin fought teammates, took himself out on Sunday

As the shocking trade of Percy Harvin to the Jets continues to dominate the NFL news cycle, reports from Seattle indicate that the Seahawks simply decided they couldn’t tolerate Harvin’s misbehavior, which included multiple fights with teammates and a refusal to play late in Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys.

One fight took place the week before the Super Bowl and left then-Seahawks receiver Golden Tate with a black eye, according to Lanc Zierlein of Sports Talk 790 in Houston. Another fight took place in the preseason this year and left receiver Doug Baldwin with a cut on his chin, according to the Seattle Times.

Harvin also reportedly took himself out of Sunday’s game and wouldn’t go back in when coaches asked him to play. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was asked why Harvin didn’t play much late in the game and answered with a vague reference to “readiness,” but it now appears that the real problem was “willingness,” or lack thereof, of Harvin to get on the field.

Combining the reports out of Seattle with the widespread reports from two years ago that Harvin was a cancer in the Vikings’ locker room, it looks like the Jets just landed themselves a malcontent. They’d better have a plan for how to deal with Harvin’s inevitable unhappiness.

How did the Raiders not jump on this? They have some talent on offense and a malcontent like Harvin has always been a Raider favorite acquisition.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/18/will-percy-harvin-be-any-different-with-the-jets/

Said one source regarding the situation, “Believe everything you hear about Harvin and the Seahawks.” The reported fracas with former Seahawks receiver Golden Tate happened, we’re told, the night before Super Bowl XLVIII. The source said Harvin body slammed Tate at the team hotel, and that players initially feared Harvin broke Tate’s neck.

While there’s a theory making the rounds that the Seahawks feared Harvin would launch a mutiny against quarterback Russell Wilson, there’s a separate theory that Harvin was in danger of being on the wrong end of a Code Red from teammates who had enough of his angry, moody, erratic ways.
