The NFL is desirous to have a black former quarterback do well as an analyst.

He can't be worse than Diehl. Or can he?

MY SOURCE told me the Steven Pe-ELLA was the final straw...or fork. He was told the name PaEa numerous times.

And so they gave him the Giants game thinking he might know what he is talking about,

Many of the employees of FOX are asking why he is there too!

David Diehl was the greatest analyst they've ever had.

McNabb did a really good job. Quality having a recent NFL Qb doing a game. Jim Miller would also be a good call.

Oh wait, does that make me a .........?

Passive aggressive. The questions still stand.

I watched the game and had no impression or thought about the analyst whatsoever. I didn't even realize Diehl was gone until halftime. I guess that is the part that is bad no personality at all in broadcast.

That's how I am with most broadcasts. I barely notice the broadcasters unless it's memorably bad or good.

I'm okay with no personality. Just call the game. If they throw in a lame joke or two, that is okay as well.

Don't be Hawk, Stacey, Heinsohn, Vitale, Elliott, etc.

I watched Miller on one of the preseason games. He wasn't as good as I thought he would be.

Vin Scully is a hack. I don't know why they don't replace him.

...Oh. No. There I strongly disagree. Strongly. I love when MLB Network's late game is the Dodgers. Vin Scully doing a game is art.

And I rarely him be biased.

I dunno if a hack can stick for what's it now 65 years? That's a run man.

Post subject:  Re: David Diehl out, Donovan McNabb in

Hopefully that came across as obviously sarcastic... I was trying to make the point that having a personality is not necessarily a detriment to calling a game. Scully is awesome, a national treasure, and I wish we had been fortunate enough to land him as the announcer on either side of town.

I feel the same way about Vitale, Hawk, and others -- they leave a unique fingerprint on what they are doing. Diehl leaves a fingerprint of someone who isn't qualified to man that position and probably was appointed to it because he was recently retired from the sport. Urlacher was the exact same thing. Randy Moss a complete opposite. Barkley is unquestionably awesome at being a commentator. Frank Thomas is not so good. A.J. is pretty good at it, Magic Johnson sucked.

You can have a personality, but you still need to make sure you are getting done what needs to be done, and Diehl could not do that (and also had very little personality IMHO.)

I really have not noticed the color guys as much as Brenneman. His over emphasis on every sentence makes my ears bleed. He sucks!

Diehl i think was on the broadcast today. He said someone was leading the team in "yards after carry"

He is probably the worst I have ever heard, not only with that saying but he had no clue how to pronounce names.
