yeah this one is a no-brainer.... even beerstain is on top of this one! john fox got to a super bowl with jake fucking delhomme and a quality defense (i mean wasn't deshaun foster or someone like that his RB?) and then he turned around and led the broncos about as far as they could go (dominant reg season team that tended to run out of gas late in the season and gets got by a really good team in the playoffs, as your peyton-manning-era broncos are the quintessential bumslayers of the NFL)

i will personally be shocked if john fox comes here.... but if he does.... holy shit i'll feel much much better about the beloved!

Guessing Fox ends up in Atlanta?

Hmmm, soon to be 60. I thought he was older. Could probably squeeze 4-5 years out of him before he goes Pinella on ya.

Post subject:  Re: John Fox on the market

oh wow i completely forgot that fox coached the denver team that "rode" tim tebow to the playoffs! of course that doesn't happen if marion barber stays inbounds..... nonetheless, i think that's still one hell of a coaching achievement to take a team led by a godawful QB like God's Son (not you, sit down Nas!) and get them playing quality enough DEF/ST/running to not just nick a playoff spot in the oft-superior AFC, but didnt they even win a game where they blew the steelers out of the water?

for all the aforementioned reasons and more this guy would be a no-brainer #1 choice to coach my football team.... but andy pace DID speak of tradition a little bit and chicago bears tradition mandates that the beloved will never hire a coach who has previous NFL coaching experience (unless they did in "prehistoric" bears history, aka before papa bear died)

TLDR? HIRE JOHN FOX YOU FUCKING TWATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does that even mean? I didn't know there was a specific age where coaches lose all their knowledge and turn into drooling idiots.

Pete Carroll is 63. Who cares. Hire John Fox tomorrow.

Head coach is very demanding position with long hours. The guy missed time last year in season for an operation for his bum ticker.

Been to the playoffs 7-13 years with teams that were not particularly good when he arrived.

I would like this move

Belichick is 62, will be 63 in April. Does he show any signs of decline? Should they already be searching for a replacement? Every person has their problems, guys much younger than John Fox. Because Fox has had a few health problems he only has a few seasons before he'll turn to shit? I didn't see the logic there.

Well he only last 4 years in Denver. I dunno. Seems like something is fishy.

Belichick is likely the greatest NFL coach ever. Tier by himself.

No thanks. I could have made the playoffs as the head coach of the Broncos.

Post subject:  Re: John Fox on the market

other than health issues i see no reason not to get him as coach... that is if he'd accept the position.

He did make the playoffs with tebow.. hell he even won a game with tebow in playoffs... but that team won the division at 8-8, so not a miracle worker by any stretch

edit: per the team release fox wants to continue to coach elsewhere

Can he bring Manning before the quad tear with him?

You would have driven them into the ground and failed miserably. Fox is a no brainer.

Florio thinks fox could be coming here

Keep an eye on John Fox to Chicago

Immediately after news broke that the Broncos and coach John Fox engaged in the latest NFL “mutual parting,” a league source with extensive knowledge of multiple coaching searches suggested that Fox could be headed to the Bears.

It would make sense, for multiple reasons. First, former Giants G.M. Ernie Accorsi is consulting with the Bears. Accorsi and Fox worked together in New York, when Jim Fassel served as head coach and Fox worked as defensive coordinator.

Second, new Bears G.M. Ryan Pace spent plenty of time in the NFC South when Fox worked as head coach of the Panthers. Pace surely has formed an opinion about Fox. If it’s favorable, and in comparison of the other candidates available in the current cycle, Fox could be the best choice.

I would think Fox's work with Carolina and the Tebow Denver year is his attraction not the Manning stuff.

The Manning stuff should not hurt him.

Of course but that was easier for him than the other. Bears is not easier so match for me.

The defense carried those teams. It was like Orton's rookie year. The Broncos defense took a few steps back after that year. McDaniels was responsible for that talent.

Actually saw some stats from PFF today... he was starting to get bad before the tear.

If by responsible you mean pissing off Cutler enough to fleece the Bears for a ton of picks for him, yes. However he also traded a 2nd 3rd and 4th for Tebow.

God told him to do it. He beat Belichick to it.

Fox is a defensive guy, his defenses were horrific 3 of past 5 years. I dunno sometimes if coaches even matter when you look at their points scored/allowed numbers over time.
