Don't worry -- they just give up draft picks. They'll be fine(d).

The brain on this guy - he's always a step ahead. Always.

Easily the finest football coach of all-time, and possibly the finest Field General in all of sports all-time as well.

  I think it may just be a case of the opposing team whining.

To me,this type of punishment that will be handed out is as serious to the NFL's reputation as any other punishment for a misdeed. Ban Belichick for 1 year STARTING with the SB . This guy is a miserable jagoff and needs a serious attitude adjustment. Cheaters shouldn't be rewarded.

Every team is trying to get some type of edge. Some people are just better at it.

I better not see any Colt fans saying this is why they lost. A few deflated balls do not cause you to get crushed like that.

The Patriots played with the same balls, if you'll pardon the expression.

I believe someone said it in the comments, but this really does make you question what else the Patriots are doing.

Am I wrong or doesn't each sideline control the ball when they have it?

Yes, each team uses their own footballs when on offense. It is that way all the way down to youth football.

I stated this somewhere else, but I actually have few qualms with cheating in a non morailty-charged arena like NFL football.

Some folks don't like Billichuk, eh think about that the next time the CFO is cheating you out of your 401(k)

Yeah, why would we want the games to be as fair as possible!

I am no fan of the Patriots, but this is the biggest non-story of all time.

It is pathetic that a team that was crushed this badly must resort to silly accusations like this.

I have no problem with it, if they are doing here, I am sure they are doing in other games. If proven true, you take away draft picks and suspend Belicheck, fines don't work.

Probably there are better things to be selectively outraged over, like the process of the catch rule or guys knocking out women in elevators. It's just my opinion but i just don't care about this.

I am sure there are a lot of people in Vegas, every NFL city and around the world that do though.

That isn't selective outrage. That rule needs to be refined and knocking out women in elevators is bad.

So, a bad rule means that we should look past blatant cheating by an organization with a history of cheating?

NFL has found that 11 of the Patriots footballs used in Sunday’s AFC title game were under-inflated by 2 lbs each, per league sources.

That's like 15% deflated.

They would have won anyway and Belicheck doesn't give a shit. Still, they cheated.

They check the balls before the game. Then let them go to the sideline. I've heard a few people say "How can then get deflated after they are checked". Shefter said this. Simple, the ball boy just takes a needle to let some air out.

Deflated balls is the reason the Colts lost 45-7.

I hate to agree with Hub, but he laughed at this and pointed out the fact that the officials touch and handle the ball before very snap. Wouldn't they be able to notice if the balls were not inflated correctly.

this is beyond stupid.

Obviously not. I don't think they are really checking for that.

They already determined 11 out of 12 were.

League has a big problem now. Anything less than a disqualification won't suffice. They can't just fine the Patriots or Belichick in particular. They have to be punished in this season, not in the next.

What happened when George Brett used too much pine tar? Home run didn't count. What happened to Greg Norman in '96 when he used a golf ball that wasn't stamped properly and certified? Disqualified from tournament. What happened when Tyson bit off Holyfield's ear? DISQUALIFIED!!!!!!!!!!
