Today marks what we could see coming for a long time, the end of the RGIII era in Washington. 2012 was the highlight of my time as a Redskins fan. Such a fun year. I'll remember that, and not the last couple injury-riddled, horrible decision-making seasons.

Cutler for RG3.

$16 mill guaranteed. WOW.

He will make a great backup QB for someone, he will come in , make some great plays and maybe not get hit too many times. BUT his new team will want him to be rthe starter and he will get knocked out again,

To bring up a name from the past, I can't help but think of Irish Boy's point on just how unfair the NFL draft is to the players when I see things like this. He was a great talent and he's been destroyed in Washington. He's not blameless either but you'd have to think he'd have done better someplace else.

He's still doing better than some of the other Subway pitchmen though...

The NFL and running QB's dont mix well.

Doesnt mean a guy cant play well for a period of time....and even Russell Wilson, who is about as good at escaping as anyone I have seen, or just dropping down, he takes a beating.

+1 No. He's not completely to blame, but not innocent by any means. Heard a local guy on with M&M this morning, just absolutely torching RGIII. Said most of the veterans in the locker room have been waiting for this since last year. That speaks volumes.

The thing about RGIII is that there was no real reason to make him a true running QB. He could pass.

Dont think they asked him to be a running QB. Shannahans play book is full of roll outs to get more time for a QB. He doesnt ask the QB to run after the roll out. Go out of bounds.

The read option certainly isn't designed for the QB to not get blown up.

He was running a lot his rookie year, and got less effective as time went on at least partially due to his injury.

If RGIII ends up in Seattle instead I'd guess he is better than Wilson.

Well, this is really my happy place. My then GF, now fiancee, bought airfare, hotel room, and two lower level tickets as my 30th birthday present. Second best time I've ever had a sporting event, bested only by witnessing the Cardinals clinch a WS berth at Miller Park.

Let me sulk today, jerks. I'll be fine tomorrow

He can't pass. Which is why he is being cut.

He's a one read QB. Take away his first read, add one deplorable offensive line and you get numerous concussions for RG3.

He's being cut because he is a ruined player that may never get back to anything like he was.

I'm fine with the trade for RGIII. I don't believe they would have done anything productive with the picks anyway.

And what exactly would I be celebrating? Kirk Cousins? The next "This is it" QB who will be awful anyway?

I think Cousins has a bright future, I wish he was on the Bears.

RG111 has become a huge distraction. The players don't like him, & the coaches don't like him. He wont be the last big time college QB who thought he could waltz into the pros & own the league. Right now Cousins is better than RG111. Hell, you might be better than RG111.
