Forget the Big Mac index, this is the real inflation indicator.

Haven't been to Bears game in years. It cost $9.25 for a cup of beer at Soldier Field?? My gosh.

What is this world coming to? Cereal boxes becoming so small to contain only four servings, and now $10 beer at the stadiums.

It was $15 for a Bud Strawberrita (or whatever it's called) at the Tinley Park Midwest Armpit Theatre Dorito Dome when I saw Def Leppard, STYX and Tesla there a few weeks ago. Pretty steep.

But after thinking about it, it's a 25 ouncer at 8% ABV. By my poor math skills, you would pay about $8 for two 4.6% ABV 12 ouncers of regular Bud Lite to equal that out. Yeah, still pretty spensive. Plus, I actually dug the Strawberita, whereas I can't stand a Bud Lite one bit anymore.

I think Bud is $8 and Goose is $9 at Wrigley, no?

Post subject:  Re: NFL Beer Prices

i think the real problem is beer companies charge the stadiums a lot more for the beer than they charge gas stations and what not. same reason beer is three times as expensive in a bar- because the bar gets charged 3 times more than they can get it at a gas station... and they dont have a choice because if the bar goes out and buys cases from the corner store the beer distributors will find out and refuse to sell to that bar.

its called price fixing. and the stadiums dont care because they make a lot more money per sale off food because the food actually costs next to nothing to make.

Places that don't offer a decent craft selection make it that much easier for me not to drink at games.

I'm a fan of yours, Greg, but I'd like you to take a step back and think about how gay this sounds.

Went to Bears games as a kid.

My Dad would get 20 cans of beer in every time for him and his buddies.

Duffel bag. Sunday Tribune on the bottom. Beer cans above the tribune. Another tribune above that. Then hats gloves and a bunch of other shit. They do the pat down. Can't feel the cans. He would also shove some cans in my coat pocket as they never checked kids back in the day. My Dad always won!!!!

But now they have medal detectors at Soldier Field.

Call me Caitlyn, then. I would rather not waste $9 on a beer that I think is disgusting.

Or just make you piss over and over. I prefer hard liquor over most domestic beers tho.

If you do tailgating right you are fine before you even go to bed. You just have to drink 3 gallons of water as soon as you stop drinking alcohol.

Get drunk early in the day. You're fine the next day.

So I can get two bud lights for 20 bucks at soldier field or 15 founders IPA for 16 bucks at walgreens. Tough call...

I realize the likely answer is profit or because they can but when did the concession raping in sports start?

It's the same principle as a movie theater. That $6+ bag of popcorn cost about fitty cent to produce. Same as a $3 Coke that was about 25 cents in reality. Ridiculous.

Yeah but when did it start in sports? I do not recall the price of a beer my dad drank at a game in 1975.
