Why not just go back to 'Up With People' and be done with it already.

Sweet. Nothing gets me up like seeing Chris Martin prancing around the stage like a fairy in his officers jacket.

Either Prince for SB XLI or The Who for SB XLIV was the best IMO. Coldplay, that's when I'll be grabbing another beer or snack or taking a dump.

Coldplay is fun to make fun of and not really appropriate for a halftime show, but I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that they're bad. And actually, now that they're doing this EDM phase and basically being Avicii: The Band, they're not that unsuitable for halftime after all. I mean, they're probably not going to play "The Scientist," it's gonna be "Sky Full of Stars," "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall," and the new hooray-I-get-to-put-it-in-Jennifer-Lawrence song.

for me coldplay fans are like big bang theory viewers.... there's supposedly a whole lot of em but as far as i'm concerned they don't exist.

maybe i need to get out more..... to bars in the suburbs?

Yeah, Coldplay doesn't really seem like a band that engenders a following so much as a removed sort of appreciation. "Clocks" is undeniably a song of its decade. "The Scientist" is a very nice ballad as well. Would I ever go to a Coldplay concert or know the names of non-Chris-Martin personnel and go B-side collecting and stuff? An emphatic no.

I mean, call 'em what they are, they're U2 v.2, taking it up after Radiohead decided they didn't want the job anymore. They even went out and got Brian Eno to produce for them like U2 did, and sure enough, it's their best (only?) start-to-finish album because Brian Eno is a genius who can drag greatness out of anyone and anything.

The game is in NorCal. It should have been either Metallica or Green Day. Both are relevant to the area, are ridiculously successful and are old enough to be "safe". Green Day might be better for the format with shorter songs. I'm sorry but Coldplay fucking sucks.

Green Day, a bunch of men in their forties who still dress like they did in their thirties at which time they were dressing like teenagers, are successfully ridiculous.

Roxy Music was way ahead of their time. Ferry had the Saturday Night Fever pose (1:02) before anybody knew who Travolta was.

Brown Eyes and I were tired, we had walked and we had scrambled through the moors and through the briers, through the endless blue meanders in the blue August moon, in the cool August moon. Robert Fripp guitar solo. I'm coming up on ten years since I got Another Green World, and I still remember how this amazed me. It's pure perfection, I really don't know what else to say about it.

This is really when U2 became the U2 we know. How revolutionary this must have been at the time on the heels of "Sunday Bloody Sunday," a song that really goes nowhere but is still beautiful and engaging.

My favorite Bowie song, to the extent that it's a song. I could have and should have posted the entire Low album, which Eno is all over.

Post subject:  Re: Coldplay

didn't eno eventually go off and do some collabs with david "dadrock" byrne? hopefully the db experience did wonders for him like it did to CH's girl st vincent.

i never really had an idea that he was some sort of legendary record-producer tho.... growing up i knew him as the music for airports guy, aka some big deal in the world of ambient music (which is an oxymoron in my personal dictionary)

for what it's worth this is about as far as i could get with "ambient" music. yeah i know a beat comes in and that arguably ruins it.... but i need stuff to happen to juxtapose that post-ejaculatory oooh/ahhhh "oh my god the sky is full of stars" wankfestery.

A nice halftime show would be enjoying a cup of tea while Slayer plays South of Heaven and then catapults Green Day, Jimmy Fallon, Kristin Wiig, Dan Bernstein, and Amy Schumer into the middle of the Pacific ocean.

That would be lovely.

With a cameo from 7th Heaven and The Voice Finalists. My wife said they should let the Dancing with the Stars people on the field to dance.

It would be great!

Fixed :D
