Mike Martz upset Terrell Owens leaped over Rams greats for Hall consideration

Terrell Owens is the second best WR to ever play the game. Stick up for your guys, fine. Just leave the rest of your dumb thoughts out of it.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14684 ... torry-holt

Former Rams coach Mike Martz said it is "out-and-out ridiculous" that Terrell Owens is a Hall of Fame finalist over a pair of former Rams wide receivers.

Martz told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he doesn't understand why Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt haven't been given more consideration for enshrinement in Canton, Ohio, while Owens is a finalist in his first year of eligibility.

Moss better than T.O. and Larry Fitz and Calvin Johnson a couple others too.. You can't just look at numbers.. Was Emmet Smith the best back? Hell no

Completely agree. Owens is like a Tim Brown.

I would say Owens isn't even Tim Brown.

TO is in no way the 2nd best WR ever.

But he is way better than Holt and Bruce.

Agreed.

Do stats still count for guys that play most of their games under a dome?

It doesn't seem fair. I think it's harder for outdoor WR to pile up the stat's.

Jerry Rice
Randy Moss
too murky from there for me to care

Top 5:

Rice
TO
Tim Brown
Andre Reed
Art Monk

Moss took too many games off mentally. TO may not have been all that interested in blocking, but when the ball came his way, his head was in it. Moss mentally checked out his last couple of years in Minnesota and that whole season in Oakland.

Should be number 1.

Didn't show up to play consistently enough.

Probably the most talented WR ever.

What?

Terrible.

No way in the world Moss is below those 4 guys.

Randy Moss picked up many an NFL paycheck with a gun and a mask.

He should have been THE best ever. He chose not to be.

Moss may have been the single most gifted & occasionally spectacular player I've seen other than Bo. Despite his issues, I'd still take Moss, James Lofton & John Stallworth over those three. Brown and to a greater extent Reed & Monk seemed more one dimensional than the others. Great players, but not transcendental imo.

I know Stallworth's numbers don't come close to the current guys but I've long thought he was the most underrated player of the Steelers and possibly the NFL in the 70's. He just had the odd misfortune of playing next to a ballerina in cleats & got ignored.

Funny thing is that I tend to find him much more insightful than virtually every other ex-jock studio analyst going now. Most of whom now use a gun & mask.

Terrible thoughts. Considering the source of the thoughts, I'm not surprised. Cardinal rule in sports is you don't quit on your teammates. Give me Owens, you can take Moss, my team is going to win more games than yours.

Owens was a divisive bi polar unstable crybaby, I bet not a one of his former qb's even stays in contact with his stupid ass.. Moss had the best hands I've ever seen, better blocker than owens and faster and a better teammate.

How did ya like that G S.- Spurs game?

I'm with Seacrest and RR. Moss was a gifted freak of nature and should be #1. TO is certainly in the same category, but showed more turd factor than Moss.

1. Rice
2. Moss

too much of a drop off from there but agree that the list consists of Stallworth, Monk, Tim Brown.

Just like any lists they tend to leave heavily toward the present. There have been a lot of great receivers.

It's interesting to me that so many people feel this way. I couldn't disagree more. As a teammate, the most unforgivable thing you can do is give up on your team and teammates. TO was a bipolar, self-centered asshole, but he never did that once. Moss did it every single place he was including New England.

It seems like most just remember the Culpepper to Moss highlight reel crap.

I remember TO finishing the last part of that Eagles Super Bowl season on one leg.

How many good QBS did Moss play with? When he got 1 he put up video game numbers.
