I understand the Nets can offer more money and one extra year on the contract for Deron Williams. but if he tells the Nets he is going to Dallas, couldn't he essentially force the nets to sign and trade him for a max deal so they could get something in return?

I'm not sure if this is allowed anymore. I know the owners wanted to change the rules so you couldn't trade a player you just signed until half way through the first season of the deal, or something like that. I'm not sure if this rule made it into the new CBA though.
