Obviously they have a different style of play than those two teams, but I don't think they are better. They are better offensively and much worse defensively than those two teams. They will also lose to any team that Philly/Indy will lose to in the playoffs. I had them at about 47 wins or so before the season. I don't see a reason to change that, and don't think their ceiling is much better.

well let me be clear- i'm not saying they can challenge Miami or anything.....

i basically think they're the best of the 2nd tier teams. in a 7 game series the only East teams I think they'd lose to for sure would be Miami and the Bulls w/ Rose. I think it's certainly possible NY, Atlanta or Boston could beat them but if the Nets won i wouldn't consider it a huge upset. and i think they'd definitely beat Indiana, Philly & Milwaukee

I've never thought Avery was a good coach. Hearing him talk makes me consider taking my own life. That being said the guy was Coach of the month for November and it was clear Deron was pouting the past couple weeks and didn't want to play for Avery. He's a coach killer. At some point he'll decide to look in the mirror.

I doubt Phil would take a job like this but they could make him a monetary offer he can't refuse. I don't think even he could make this a championship team. Clearly he wants to coach.

Actually, Avery Johnson was NBA Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for BOTH October & November, and the Nets got off to an 11-4 start before going 3-10 in December prior to his firing yesterday.

As far as Phil Jackson is concerned, the Nets can make quite an offer to him in hopes of luring him back into coaching. My own opinion is that Phil will only return to coaching if the team is thisclose to winning a title. I don't think the Nets are close enough to challenge the NBA Champion Heat to lure Phil away from his Montana ranch, regardless of how much money the Nets are willing to offer.

The Nets market Deron Williams as this great family man:

seems like kind of a whiny bitch to me. I mean I guess you can be a great family man and a whiny bitch at the same time, but "father of four and coach-killer of two" won't make a good billboard.

I see where you are coming from, I just don't agree. I think Miami, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, and NY are better than Brooklyn and would beat them in a series. Not sure about Philly or Indiana. We should get the chance to find out in a few months.

I hope it's not C.J. either.

It's probably Bogans.
