Kudos to you good sir.

From his wiki....

His nickname was The Chief, after the fictitious Chief Bromden, a silent, giant Native American character in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. According to Parish, former Celtics forward Cedric Maxwell gave him this nickname because of his stoic nature.

Totally not because he was chiefed 24-7..... :drunken:

If I remember correctly he got busted for getting a pretty big package of weed back in the day.

This thread has died quicker than Keeping Score's NBA divisional previews.

11/12/2013 Your Phil McCracken NBA player of the Day for November 12th is

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/petrodr01.html

Image

DRAZEN PETROVIC!

One of the first European players that meant a damn in the NBA....Petrovic's career was cut short by ending up dead from a car accident. But if you take a minute and look what he was doing with his years on the Nets when he put up 22 points per game while shooting 45% on 3's and 87% from the free throw line it is kind of ridiculous. With the way the NBA has moved to embrace Euro players and a more wide open style of play he was actually probably ahead of his time as a NBA player.

In closing I would like to end with a quote from Michael Jordan....the actual person not the mult....Quite Naturally....

It was a thrill to play against Dražen. Every time we competed, he competed with an aggressive attitude. He wasn't nervous; he came at me as hard as I came at him. So, we've had some great battles in the past and unfortunately, they were short battles.

Hard to believe he died 20 years ago. Geez I am getting old. He opened the gates to the Euro invasion
and world invasion for that matter which has changed the face of the NBA so much.

The Phil McCracken NBA Player of the Day for 11/14/2013 is the one....the only Chris Gatling!

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gatlich01.html

Image

Gatling had a somewhat solid NBA career bouncing around the league for 10 years while averaging somewhere near a 10/6 for points and rebounds, but the real reason that he is our NBA Player of the game is this scam that he came up with in his post playing career

http://blacksportsonline.com/home/2013/04/ex-nba-chris-gatling-arrested-for-squatting-in-mansion-then-trying-to-rent-it-out/

According to the police, Gatling broke into a key box and lived in a Arizona home from July 2010 to August 2011. The owners lived California, but kept the power on, because that is what rich people do.

Instead of being happy to get free housing, Gatling went on Craigslist and listed the house for rent for $800 and called it an “Ex-NBA” home.

He got a deposit from one potential renter, the next one called the police when they got suspicious. In case you were wondering Gatling made $30 million during his 10 year NBA career.

So for having the stones to try to rent out a mansion you were squatting in makes you the Phil McCracken NBA player of the day for 11/14/2013!!!

Taking a cue from the esteemed Hank Scorpion....the Phil McCracken NBA Player of the Day for 11/21/2013 is none other than.....

Image

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/davisda01.html

DALE DAVIS!!!!

Sliding in comfortably between Terrell Brandon and Randy smith on the ELO Fan ratings on the NBA basketball reference page which I have to assume is sort of sliding scaled developed by Jeff Lynne....

And not to get off on a tangent here, but who do you think had the better spaceship designed album covers in the 70's. I think the ELO spaceship was definitely better than the Boston spaceship, but I am certainly willing to hear a spirited discussion the other direction....

Image

Back on topic.....Dale Davis was a scary dude that would average somewhere near a 10 and 10 in the NBA and be an intimidating physical presence on the front line of some pretty good Pacers and Blazers teams. He certainly seems like the type of player that would have dong whipped Dan Bernstien on the way to get his coffee and open up his mail in the locker room.

From the first post in the thread....I will certainly take into account that there are many fans of the segment that wish for it more often but I don't want it to become as stale as Who you Crappin....Phil McCracken has to be visited by the basketball muse as it were

And nothing ELO ever did (including spaceship album design) is better than Boston.

The Very Best of ELO was in the player two weeks ago. I hadn't listened in a while.
