He'll be traded between the 15th and the 19th. I really hope the Heat don't find a way to get him or it is over for everyone. They would 3-peat with him and I will be sick again for another summer.

Multiple first round picks and other expiring contracts. Maybe take back a bad contract. They only have to send back salaries totaling $3.9M this season because he is only making $5.2M this season. There is definitely a deal to be made and Miami has the ability to make it. They need his rebounding and defensive presence.

His cap number is 8 million though cause of the way the deal was structured to get him from the Bulls. It would take Haslim and Chalmers to match the money up. First round Heat picks are basically worthless until Lebron leaves.

If I'm the heat, I would offer up Bosh. They can just role the dice with a combo of Beasley and Rashard Lewis at PF.

Problem with that is Wade's health. If he goes down and Bosh is gone, Lebron has no one else to help score.

If Wade goes down, they're not winning anything at all.

yeah probably true. But they would have a much better shot at going deep in playoffs with Lebron and Bosh carrying the load rather than Lebron and Omer

For money to work it would have to be Bosh for Asik and Lin

That would still only be $6M in contracts for Asik. Haslem and James Jones could get that done. Having a defensive and rebounding presence like Asik would put the Heat in a great position to win even without Wade. Bosh could go back to playing a position he is comfortable playing. They've known for a while that they lack the inside presence and they've been trying to fill that void.

You are forgetting they have the guy with the giant schlong sitting on the bench - Oden. Talk about filling a void...!

I would as long as multiple draft picks were included. The Rockets have to trade him. They would also get substantial salary cap relief by dealing him too.

Those draft picks are worthless though. Their GM isn't an idiot. They will find a better deal somewhere.

It's highly unlikely a lottery team is going to give the Rockets a draft pick. Therefore every draft pick they may receive will be a late first round pick. Most of those team probably won't offer multiple 1st round picks but the Heat would. Don't forget we are talking about nearly $20M in salary cap relief too.

If I'm the Rockets, I would make that deal. I think that trade makes both teams better.

Lakers rumored to be offering the same deal only with Gasol going to HOU for Lin and Asik.

Tho his salary doesn't match up, Jordon Hill's a possibility.

Lin's among the NBA leaders in drives to the hoop and drives converted (65.4%, higher than Tony Parker's/best among regular drivers) in the NBA:

http://stats.nba.com/playerTrackingDriv ... tOrder=DES

Kobe likely coming back as (even) more of a perimeter player, Lin's ability to drive and dish might be helpful in LA. Even if he sucks on D, you have Asik and either Hill or Sacre back to protect the basket.

Miami doesn't have a clean 1st round draft pick until 2016:

http://www.prosportstransactions.com/ba ... e/Heat.htm

But that could well be a lottery pick, if this proves Lebron's last season in Miami + Wade decides to either hang it up or take an off-the-bench role on another contender after next season.

With Dwight Howard's wingspan in the middle, Rockets might look to trade for Loul Deng and play him as an undersized #4.

Isn't this another team he will not be starting on?

i didn't look up the salaries, but talent wise don't really see what that does for either team, they're pretty much the same player

Omer Asik trade update: Rockets have offer in place, likely to be a three-team deal

Brett Pollakoff

The Rockets are determined to trade Omer Asik in the next few days, and the latest update says that the framework of a three-team deal may be already in place.

Now that Dec. 15 is upon us, players who signed new contracts last summer are eligible to be dealt, and players traded before Dec. 19 are eligible to be included in another deal before the Feb. 20 trade deadline passes.

Houston will continue to shop Asik to get the most they can in return for the talented but disgruntled big man, but if no further offers materialize, there’s one that the team is reportedly willing to accept that may net draft picks in return.

From Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle:

Morey would not discuss his plans, but a person with knowledge of the Rockets’ thinking said Morey set his Dec. 19 deadline in part because he knows he has an offer he is willing to take. Though things can change several times by Thursday, that individual said “it very likely will be a pretty complicated, three-way deal. There are a lot of moving parts.” …

According to individuals with knowledge of the talks, the Rockets do not have a deal in place but were greatly encouraged when trade talks intensified Dec. 6, so much so that the confidence that they would be ready to pull the trigger helped inspire the Dec. 19 “deadline” as much as needing a deal by then to be able to move players again this season.

As much as speculation has centered around Thad Young, if the Rockets are to do a deal with Philadelphia and former Rockets assistant GM Sam Hinkie, it is more likely to be a three-team deal in which the player the Sixers trade goes elsewhere.

The rumored deal with the Sixers always made the most sense. But if Houston is after picks instead of frontcourt help to bolster the team’s roster, then involving a third team might be the best way to accomplish that.

Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports that the Celitcs may be an option.

The advice offered us Sunday was stern: Keep an eye on Boston. The Celtics possess two players in different salary ranges that would presumably fit in useful ways next to Dwight Howard: Jeff Green and Brandon Bass. The Celts also have a spare first-round draft pick or two to plug into any trade equation to sweeten the deal for Houston, amid rising suspicions around the league that Morey’s Rockets are going to find a way to come out of the Asik saga with at least one future first.

Houston placed championship-level aspirations on this season after acquiring Dwight Howard, and it’s worth noting that dealing Asik for future picks won’t do anything to help the team accomplish that goal. There may be other deals on the horizon for the Rockets, but this one alone involving Asik doesn’t sound all that promising, at least in terms of providing immediate help this season.
