It's looking pretty good at this point. OKC is firing on all cylinders and this is basically the same team that got eliminated last year in the 2nd round of the playoffs without Westbrook. I actually think OKC might want to consider trading Westbrook at some point.

Terry Boers says so and Lil Danny didn't disagree. He did try to get NBA guest today to say why isn't Lebron MVP every year and that guest said he was full of shit. He said it is possible to be MVP and not greatest wang whipper in the league.

I think LeBron is the actual MVP still, but Durant will win for the same reasons that Jordan didn't win 10 of them.

For the first time since OKC has been good I think they have the best team in the NBA. I don't see anybody in the West beating them except for possibly Portland.

So, Okc better than the LeBrons?

Yeah I think Miami is the 3rd best team behind OKC and Indy. It's one of the reasons why I would still vote for LeBron as MVP. It sounds funny, but he now has less help than George and Durant do.

I liked Steve Aschburner's thought about the MVP being the player who is having the best season in terms of propelling his team to greatness rather than a player who is the best player statistically.

Yeah I agree. That's LeBron right now.

No. OKC was down 22 to 4 in the first quarter and they won by 17 points. I know that a regular season matchup does not matter as much as a game in the Finals, but the MVP is a regular season award. Durant has 30 points or more in 12 games in a row. OKC has won 9 in a row. At the present moment OKC would beat Miami in a best of seven. LeBron has a lot more to work with than Durant and Durant's team is in the better conference. Durant is averaging 31.2 points a game. LeBron is averaging 26.2 points a game. Durant is shooting a higher percentage from three and from the line with more rebounds. Both are very similar players, but no Durant would put OKC in possibly the 8th seed. The Heat would be the 3 seed without LeBron.

yeah, I think I'm going to disagree with most of what you said there, Ditka.

so....you make a post saying individual statistics shouldn't really count in determining MVP then in the very next post start rattling off individual statistics ?

He's taken the next step. Can he continue it when Westbrook comes back?

I think LeBron might be the better player, but currently other that field goal percentage Durant is ahead in almost all of the categories. LeBron may be the better player, but Durant is having more of an MVP season. Durant doesn't have Wade and Bosh on his team and Westbrook has been out.

If Jordan didn't win every year then being the best player doesn't matter and stats don't either. It's just based on how voters feel.

All too reminiscent of the blabber back in 1996 ... I've heard this song before ... incredible forward in the West looking to usurp the throne from the best player of his era (or ever, that's another discussion) residing in the East with his aging and tired team looking to three-peat ... we'll see how it ends this time.

I don't recall the Bulls going to consecutive 7 game series in back-to-back years to get to the Finals during their 3 peats. The Spurs were a Kawhi Leonard free throw from a championship last year. Miami has had the advantage of playing awful teams for much of the playoffs. This year and the previous two years they will have not faced a full strength Bulls team. The fact that Bosh and James teamed up in the Eastern Conference made the Cavs and the Raptors bad teams. You throw in a Bulls team with no superstars, an under-achieving Knicks and Nets teams, a bad Boston team and basically all the Heat have to do is beat Indiana and whoever comes out of the West. Because there aren't any dominant teams in the East to go up against.
