Looks like the Bulls are getting ready to make multiple trades. They are clearly trading for Melo and either taking back a bad contract or making an additional trade with someone else.

I think a trade for Durant is in the works.

Nope. It's clear that they are going to trade for him. They acquired a guy with an expiring contract.

I'm glad. He's like 4 feet tall. No way he's a difference maker.

The Bulls may have to take back JR Smith in a Melo trade.

I can't believe Randolph is only 24. I feel like he's been in the league ten years.

Why? The Knicks don't have to work out a sign and trade. They would be doing Melo and the Bulls a favor. Therefore they will want something in return. Players and/or future cap relief would help. Getting J.R. Smith's $7M contract off the books would put the Knicks in great shape in 2016.

Why is it in Bulls interest to sign and trade for Melo if they had to take a piece of shit like JR Smith back? Why not just sign him?

It might be the only way Melo agrees to come to the Bulls or any other team. Not because of Smith but because it's the difference between signing the contract with NY or Chicago (with the end result of going to Chicago both ways), and both will have different structures.

If the Knicks dump Smith on the Bulls they will go into the 2016 offseason with only Calderon and Prigioni on the books. That's roughly $9M in salaries. That would give them almost $60M to spend on free agents.

It is my understanding that if the Bulls got Melo, they could then sign one more veteran at a mid-level exception and fill out the remainder of the roster with minimum exceptions to avoid the luxury tax. Is that correct?

Because they may want to give him the max salary he deserves and by trading for him they will preserve their MLE. That could be used to bring over Mirotic.

Yes. They could split up the MLE and use it on multiple players too.

Damn Nas, when did you turn into a cap guru. If you worked for the Bears maybe they wouldn't have had to lose their best QB to keep Cutler.

I've been pretty good with this since about 2006. I learned a lot from a guy that used to post here.

Yeah, the NBA salary cap is porn for accountants, lawyers, and accountants who are also lawyers. I don't have a clue what half that shit is.

RFDC, I'm officially renouncing my Stauskas love. He went to the wrong team. Sacramento is moronic. I knew he wouldn't be there at 16 though.

I think Harris is the steal of the draft. Hate what Philly is doing. Like the Magic did. Thought the Cavs did bad. If the Celtics can turn Rondo into a really good 4 or 5 the Celtics will be interesting. Don't like the Charlotte pick. Don't like Exum's chances with Utah. Not sure about Randle with LA. I think it's cool Jabari is cool with Milwaukee and he would be my heavy favorite for ROY. Pretty sure the PG Minnesota picked sucks because the PG Minnesota always picks sucks. I like that McDaniels guy from Syracuse Philly picked up in the 2nd round.
