maybe they're operating under the Oladipo, Harden et al rule that after playing next to Westbrook players who get traded have All-NBA caliber seasons.

My guess is Morey's planning on adding necessary playoff-run talent at the trade deadline (like the Sixers did last season); swapping out dead-weight expirings for a wing and whomever else Houston needs by then.

Kevin Love re-signed with Cleveland for a max deal for some reason. Not sure what the Cavs are thinking.

Don't know about this one. Melo in theory should get better looks playing with Paul but I don't think Houston's system is a good fit for him. They don't believe in mid range jump shooting which is really the strength of his game. They want 3's and layups and he isn't particularly good at either at this stage of the game. He is an ok 3 point shooter but he lacks the lift to finish at the basket these days.
Don't know how it is supposed to work with D'Antoni either. Melo isn't a superstar nor even an All Star caliber player anymore so maybe he has humbled a bit. Won't be more than a 3rd option with them which is the best he can hope for considering that he is part of a contender.

 The Sixers first round curse continues, as it looks Zhaire Smith is going to miss the entire season with a Jones fracture. Pity for them too as I thought they took the Suns to the cleaners with that trade.

Are the Sixers dumb or are these injuries after the draft?

It happened within the last couple of days. I don't think he was going to play much this season but it hurts him from a development standpoint. Not really up on him but he was raw from what i read with freakish athletic ability.
