a rousing postgame celebration for Dirk tonite.

After the game.

They brought out Dirk's heroes, Bird, Pip, Schrempf, Kemp, and Barkley to speak.

Dirk also scored 30 tonight.

He also announced his official retirement during this ceremony. Never heard a crowd grunt so loud in disappointment.

Sux he will be gone but I'm glad he won a title. It validated him as a legend and all-time great.

Legend. As an avid secondary Spurs fan for the last 20 years he was a worthy foe and deserves a viking’s funeral.

Everybody was rooting for him and the Mavs in 2011 against the Evil Empire.

I love this guy. In an alternate universe he would have been a fine Spur.

A fine example of the opportunity America gives.

Glad my Spurs did right by him in his last game. Keeping the game on a 2nd screen to see his final sendoff.

They don't have anything else going on.

Gearing up for their 6th championship dummy. This is just a nice regular season goodbye to a legend.

That was a pretty cool thing by the Spurs. Man the battles they had over the years.

Let me know when you’re retiring from the board. Getting a little long in the tooth my friend. I’ll put together a nice tribute.

At 7-foot with the way he shoots behind his head, Dirk could probably play into his 50s.

He’s talked about it before. He agrees with your assessment. It’s not the games themselves but the season long prep and grind that gets to them.

I appreciate the comparison to Dirk.

No problem. You’re a legend around these parts.

There’s always Ice Cube’s league.

Nowitzki has 4 years of unused college eligibility. Dirk was on opposite sides of 2 of the more compelling post-season series in recent memory: going from being the team everyone outside of Dallas wanted to see lose vs Golden State in 2007 to serving as America's agent of schadenfreude for Lebron's first run at a title in 2011.
