Jimmy Butler suspended seven games by the Heat for conduct detrimental to the team.

He used to be one of my favorite players. Now he is exhibit A of what people who hate the NBA can point to. He is like James Harden with more finals appearances.

I would trade LaVine for him in a heartbeat.

Agreed. Butler's contract expires at end of year.

Quote:
Butler left a mark in Miami over his 5 1/2 seasons — eighth in team history in points, eighth in assists, eighth in steals, all of that in just 313 appearances. And in the playoffs, he was exceptional: There have been 18 games of 40 or more points in team postseason history and Butler is responsible for eight of them, including a record 56-point night against Milwaukee in the 2023 playoffs.

Unfortunately, he's 35 and not grandfathered into the LeBron Juicing Protocol.

He's wondering why he can't find joy on the court. I got the answer. Father Time is stepping up his game.

luka is 25, but the mavs must think he's going to fall of a cliff because of his lack of effort conditioning and shit attitude?

They are saying on ESPN it has to do with Luka’s lack of conditioning and refusal to take better care of himself with diet, etc…. Crazy trade but might work out for both teams.

This trade is nowhere near as lopsided as MANY people believe it to be and in the short term at least Dallas is clearly the winner. Street clothes is a helluva player and will be well served to get the hell away from Lebron James and all that comes with playing alongside of him.

With that being said I'm shocked that Dallas would pull the trigger due to Luka's age and standing within the franchise. Probably has to do with the previous things that have been said about conditioning and other things such as the new CBA too. In this new NBA GMs have to be much smarter about who they give Super Max Contracts too because if they are not (as teams like the Bulls and Phoenix can attest) it will screw their franchise up for years. Those contracts are tougher to move than they used to be. due to the hard cap restrictions and penalties for going over
I think Doncic has 2 more years on his deal so by the time he comes up he will be about 27 or 28 years old. It's likely that by then his body will have really betrayed him.
And the last part actually pertains to the floor. Luka is a ball stopper on offense and a turnstile on defense. He is a no doubt difference maker on both ends of the floor

Likely comes down to.money. Luka was in line for a 5 year $345 million Supermax extension this summer. Now he isn't

This is bizarre.

Trading a 25yr old who took you to the finals last year because he’s maybe sometimes fat and/or you don’t want to pay him…is there an analogous trade anywhere in sports?

Why didn't the Bulls get Luka?

Lakers get to kick the tires for a season and a half and decide if he is the heir apparent to LeBron. Maybe he learns something from watching the King. Will be interesting

I understand wanting to trade him for a variety of reasons but reality is if you want to cash that chip in you should be able to do better than Anthony Davis.

He's regressing. He was better 3 years ago than he is now. The bitching, the eating, the not playing. Great player, but he lost his aura. I hope he gets it back, he used to be fun.

Kyrie's been playing his ass of lately --- as has Anthony Davis. And now Davis gets to play the 4 alongside Gafford and Lively. Thought the Mavericks could have gotten a bit more.

Sure. If the Mavs felt this way they could’ve asked far & wide around the league and gotten a ransom. Instead they get Anthony Davis?

And of course it’s the Lakers. This just reeks of some sort of under the table bullshit.

It seems Mavs targeted Davis. It seems this is Irving's team now. Pretty big gamble trusting that dude.

Between the history of referees and the clear epidemic of players betting on their own games it is hard to believe this trade was done in an above board way. NBA is just a dishonest and corrupt league, they don’t get the benefit of the doubt here.

I agree there's something more to the story. A fan favorite who puts asses in the seats gets dealt?

For a fraction of what he’s worth to LeBron & Los Angeles. It’s rotten.

I don't know think it's a fraction but he wasn't shopped. That's the fishy part. It's like "get this guy out of here, do it quick, do it quiet."

Dallas should’ve demanded Bronnie.

Also, the Adelsons are uniformly unattractive people.
