2nd half D was impressive.

I was thinking these Thunders were like the 1st Bull team. Young & on the cusp of a dynasty, but could lose the first game at home.

wait, Scott Brooks isn't an android?

Fun game. Fun team. And Apologist, you make a good analogy there. I was just gonna post that this team reminds me of the Bulls, circa 1991.

Durant is not at all scared of the moment. Scary talent. Hope he stays healthy as he gonna score a lot of points in this league.

His release is unreal, and at his height and athleticism, basically unblockable.

Could happen. Even Magic was swept in the Finals. Twice.

Bill Simmons has been making that same '91 Bulls comparison for the past few weeks, at least.

We'll see how it plays out.

There was an interesting sequence at the 2 minute mark that fully showed why people who have watched alot of this team think Westbrook won't be happy playing second fiddle. Durant had just hit three big baskets including a three, and went to the FT line with two minutes left, up 4 or 5 whatever. Now... I realize body language armchair psychologists are pretty much the easiest group of fans to make fun of in sports. But, having said that, Westbrook showed me again why there's much validity to those concerns. The crowd was chanting MVP and they cut to Westbrook in between shots and he had this annoyed, restless look just eminating from his jaw-clenched face. The next Thunder series Westbrook has the ball at the top of the key, and Durant is as hot as ever and muscling with LeBron for the ball on the block. Westbrook fakes an entry pass, then cuts to the left with his quick first step and takes a pretty difficult pull up 14 footer from the high block. He made it. I just think he believes he should be not only the star of the team, but the league. You can almost visibly see him fighting with himself during games trying to balance that superstar scorer part of his game with the PG part of his game. All evidence points to the Thunder being significantly better when he shoots less and embraces the PG role.

Hard to blame him too much though. He's probably the best 2nd best player on a team since '02/'03 Kobe and 23 years old.

The undying LeBron argument is unwinnable at this point, but I feel like one can argue more efficiently that he could salvage his image and have a babyface turn.
  • Is he a great player? ✓
  • Is his talent/potential undeniable? ✓
  • Could be challenge the likes of Jordan for greatest of all time? ✓
  • Did "The Decision" and "...not 5, not 6, not 7..." destroy his reputation? ✓
  • Did forming up another Big Three and taking a proverbial backseat arguably neuter his game? ✓
  • Could losing arguably change things for the better? ✓✓✓

IMHO the national perspective is that Miami, and inherently LeBron, must learn some humility. If Miami loses out to the point where the Big Three is broken up, James would have the opportunity to lead a team again, only truly. No matter what he or others say, the presence of Wade and Bosh takes up crucial scoring opportunities and ruins his rhythm (more to the point is they take up valuable cap space that would be better used to put superior depth around #6). If LeBron was given the opportunity to in a sense 'fly solo' then I certainly would be willing to root for him again.

LeBron will never challenge Jordan. Totally different DNA. Jordan lived for the moment (and delivered) whereas LBJ reluctantly does "the best he can".

Absolutely no comparison.

I strongly would disagree that the change neutered his game. I think LeBron played his best basketball this year. It's his first year in the league that I started agreeing that he was as good as Jordan at times. I don't think they are taking scoring chances away from him. He's best when he can score 20-25 and then give you a triple double and all-world defense. With Miami as its currently constructed he has to do way too much. He's asked to score 35-40, grab 10 boards, 8 assists, and on top of that if he doesn't play exceptional defense on the other teams best scorer, as well as disruptive team defense, they usually lose. If anything, he's currently asked to score too much.

I would agree with this if LeBron was 30-something, but there's still plenty of time and opportunity left to go on some ungodly tear to simply get himself in the debate.

I personally don't think anyone will ever approach Jordan; not so much because of talent but because of worldwide marketability. Jordan is/was the most recognizable athlete on earth, and changed the entire sport. His success only validated the greatness people laid on him.

LeBron's simply made some pretty poor decisions, but did them early enough in his career to where the window for righting the ship is possible. I know that sounds incredibly weird to say, considering he's in his 3rd finals appearance and has won a substantial amount of awards, but I think the general consensus would agree - he's sleeping in the bed he's made, for better or for worse.

That's that meatball shit. Simply by being two of the best basketball players of the past 25 years there is definitely a comparison. "Absolutely no comparison" would apply to cpguy or FavreFan being compared to Jordan.

Well, that went pretty much exactly as we expected 8)

LeBron is playing Scottie basketball, Durant is playing MJ ball

Both awesome. One is better.

LeBron not demanding the ball every possession when it got close, and in the late stages is unforgivable

YES, he's a freak of nature who CAN play basketball better than anyone in the world. Is it too much to ask that he use that superhuman ability in Big moments?

Great moment of the telecast was watching Riley and Mourning standing with grumpy faces, arms crossed and dark suits in a sea of blue t shirted cheering fans

I guess that's a fair enough narrative considering LeBron disappeared again for a critical stretch in the 4th, but the teams are pretty unfairly stacked with the way Wade is playing lately. I think LeBron again played much better than Scottie or better than many people are giving him credit for. He was, once again, simply phenomenal for the first three quarters. I wish i could tell if it was a mental thing or a physical exhaustion thing when he disappears in the 4th.

Probably, but past performances are really the only clue to that. Considering he's putting in over 45 mpg in the postseason while playing those minutes harder than anyone in the league it's certainly possible that he's just running out of gas in the 4th.

Lebron is the hardest working player in the league?

Well that's slightly different than what I said, or at least what I meant to say. LeBron puts a more physical toll on his body per game than any other player in the league. Watch him and Durant play without the ball. Dursant's likely to finish the possession without even making contact with another player. LeBron is probably trying his hardest to push Ibaka or Perkins out of the paint because Miami doesn't have 1 legit post player and Bosh thinks he's Ray Allen these days.

Thanks for clarifying FF.

I think D-Rose puts a more physical toll on his body than anybody in the league.

Considering the minutes he plays and what Bron is asked to do on both ends of the floor I don't think it's close between him and Rose. But im talking about this specific postseason, so maybe Rose wouldve been asked to play and do much more per game. The difference is LeBron's body can weather the beating better than it seems like Rose can.

But he's had more than one game where he's dominant most of the 4th quarter and then he defers when it gets to crunch time.

Thats why I think mental, not physical
