No chance. Remember in '08 he couldn't even contain Pierce, let alone shut him down. He didn't become an All World defender until a few years later.

Lance Stephenson is an idiot and George is nothing more than an all star. I thought Vogel was a great coach but he may have lost this team. Indiana will lose if they face Brooklyn or Chicago in the 2nd round.

He's a very talented idiot though. I think he will get overpaid this summer, but for anything less than $10M/year I'd love to have him, especially with Thibs as coach.

Well I said after Rose that the Bulls would miss the playoffs and that Thibs would be fired this year. Not because of performance of course, but because of well known issues with management. Wrong on the playoffs, but what about Thibs? Does he survive the off season? I imagine he hates management enough to leave as well. He can get a job anywhere he wants after what he did here.

I would have a hard time being a Bulls fan the following season if Thibs got fired. There isn't a scenario I can think of that will make it okay.

Thibs isn't going anywhere. He's under contract for 2 more years and despite whatever disagreements him and management have, they aren't going to fire him. Even if GarPax wanted to, I'm guessing Jerry would step in based on Thibs track record of being able to make the playoffs and keep winning games and selling tickets with a depleted roster. I don't think we have to worry about him leaving. Also, I echo Nas's thoughts on this.

Last game of the season, with the Bulls already locked into the 4 seed. It's a 6 OT game, Thibs keeps Noah out there for all 78 minutes and he immediately had a heart attack and dies during the post game interview. Then it's ok to fire Thibs. That's all I can think of for now.

Noah would still come back before Rose does.

Like the Kobe 81 game for me featuring Jalen Rose, Brewer's should probably be 51* due to the presence of Harden. I don't know if Harden was guarding him most of the time or whatever, but that dude's approach to "defense" is just to wait around until he gets the ball back in his hands, which is to say Houston is suddenly undermanned each time on defense.

I know something similar has been said several times in different ways, but the Suns - currently out of the playoffs in the west - would be tied with the Bulls for third in the east. The 10th best west team would also make the playoffs in the east. These disparities happened several times in the mid-2000s as well, when the west could have an insane all star lineup like Shaq, Duncan, KG, Kobe, and either Nash, Marbury, or Francis. Reserves included Marion, Dirk, Ming, Webber, Peja, and depending on the starter, Nash, Payton, Francis, or Marbury. Best all star squad of all time?

Not sure about that. The late 80's/early 90's had some seriously stacked squads in both conferences.

Could they claim to have three players that can make persuasive arguments to be the best player of their generation (Duncan, Shaq, Kobe)? Serious question, I honestly don't know. Dirk on the bench isn't also too bad.

I don't know about that. But for example, the '88 West had Hakeem, Magic, Jabbar, Malone and Worthy, and were easily surpassed by their East counterparts featuring Jordan, 'Nique, Barkley, Isiah, Bird, Ewing, Mchale, and Moses Malone. I'd put that East squad up against the 00's West and feel good about it.

It's a great debate. Don't know much about Malone, so I'll leave him out here. This is how I'd rank those players on an individual level:

Mj
Kobe
Duncan
Shaq
Bird
McHale
KG
Barkley
Dirk
Thomas
Nique

If we are talking 1983 Malone I'd have him 3rd on the list. Given where they were at the time I'd probably say

MJ
Bird
Duncan
Kobe
Shaq
Barkley
Isiah
Malone
KG
McHale
Nique
Dirk

If I thought about it for more than 60 seconds I'm sure the order would look different.

McHale is arguably the 2nd best PF of all-time behind Duncan.

Arguably being the key word there. There's probably 4-5 guys that can make a case for 2nd. 1st has been decided.

you could tell that Grizz-Suns game was over in the 1st few minutes...Grizz tightened the clamps on defense and the Suns choked

Dragic came up short but they were saying he was at 50%, so there's that

people kept calling the Suns the team no one wanted to play in the playoffs...and yeah I realize the Spurs owned the Grizz last year, but still i think they're going to be a much tougher out than the Suns

Yeah, I never really understood the "Nobody wants to play the Suns" thing. If I'm the Spurs, I'd much rather face them than the Mavs or Grizz. But I don't really think that 1-8 series is going more than 5.

To be fair, I never think a Spurs series is going more than 5.

I believe the Grizzlies can beat the Spurs. I'm just not willing to make that prediction right now.

That's not gonna happen. I'll offer you 5/1 odds on a charity wager if you ever are ready.
