Yeah, way to have a lame-duck coach for 50 games. I mean, it's not like Herb Kohl is averse to firing people. He fires coaches all the time!

Any team seriously considering hiring Skiles next year deserves what they get.

That said, he'll likely be coaching Brooklyn.

OKC, I'm not sure Scott Skiles gets another bite of the NBA coaching apple, and that includes Brooklyn. The last 2 stops here in Chicago and now in Milwaukee for Skiles haven't finished so well. I'm starting to wonder if Skiles is suffering from burnout.

Those three statements are not mutually inclusive. He can get another coaching job despite how things ended in Chicago and Milwaukee and despite potentially having burnout.

And his burnout is likely from being bad at his job. He needs to ask George Karl or Doug Collins how they're able to consistently get the most out of their talent.

The other thing he needs to learn is while being the head coach you have to be authoritative figure, but you also must learn to communicate with your players. He is absolutely terrible at communication. When he came in I liked the hire, but having almost 5 years to watch him it is easy to see why he can't stay anywhere very long.

See, I find this utterly fucking ridiculous. He's not coaching the Bobcats or the Raptors or the Magic. The Bucks have a nice young roster and are clearly playing below their potential. That's on him. It's his job to get the most out of them. Scott Skiles is an entitled little petulant fucking crybaby who walks out on every job as soon as his own insufferable ways begin to grate on his players. And when that happens, it's the players' fault according to him. Bitch please. He obviously has a problem looking in the mirror.

Step 1: Don't be a dick to your players 24/7. There's times to be a dick, and there's times where you need to pump the brakes a bit.

Okay. I still don't think Skiles gets another bite.

He shouldn't, because his style is eminently suited for the college game and he would flourish there, but the best way to get an NBA coaching job is to have had an NBA coaching job. Who's to say Washington or Sacramento or Orlando or some other bottom feeder doesn't give him yet another whirl? Hell, right there, Orlando can bring him back around to give the warm-and-fuzzies to a fanbase with nothing left but positive memories of playing as him on NBA Jam. There will always be a place for the hardass Point-A-to-Point-B coach, for better or worse. PJ Carlesimo is coaching again, for God's sake.

EDIT: lol,

I think P.J. Carlesimo is nothing more than an interim guy in Brooklyn, CH. Considering the fact the Nets have a new arena, new uniforms & a new logo in Brooklyn, that Russian owner and Jay-Z who currently own the Nets would prefer a higher profile name than P.J. to head coach that underachieving franchise moving forward.

As for where Scott Skiles might resurface, why not the college game? After all, guys like Kentucky's John Calipari & Louisville's Rick Pitino have thrived in the college game after BOTH flopped in the NBA themselves. CH, you might be onto something...

They took the interim tag off Carlesimo a few days ago.

Curious, I do like your "Skiles as a college coach" theory. And I agree with your point the other day that if Skiles was coaching some shitty team in the pacific northwest or somewhere, there would be a bronze statue of him.

I seem to remember an interview Skiles did with Mike North where North asked him about coaching in college. He had no interest. Recruiting, immaturity of college athletes, 2nd tier travel, lower pay, 2nd tier facilities, lodging and the like were the main reasons. The interview may have been on or about the same time Skiles called North the equivalent of a Sally for getting his nails done.

I look at Skiles as a guy that is good for about 5 years. Wherever he goes he will tire of the situation and vice versa. He is clearly good at establishing a system, consistency and general defense. He just seems to get tired of it after creating it. He hasn't ever had a "great" team or situation either (albeit other than Phil Jackson who gets that). He may have stayed at a place for more than 5 years where the team was awesome and accepted his type of coaching. But I kind of doubt he wouldn't still find some kind of internal flaw that forced him to move on.

Patrick Ewing was actually considered for the Charlotte Bobcats' job in the offseason, yet former St. John's assistant Mike Dunlap got the job instead. Might Ewing, an assistant with the Orlando Magic at last check, be the next guy to head coach an NBA team down the road?

Nelly would actually be a nice fit with that Jennings/Ellis backcourt. That team could score 150 per game, but then give up 180.

Do you think Skiles will be out of the league for good now?

No. It didn't stop ESPN/ABC's Hubie Brown from coaching the Memphis Grizzlies a few years ago. I think Hubie's in his early 70s, but it was quite a trend in sports a few years ago to hire senior citizens as head coaches & managers in pro sports.

Yes. Hence KS's statement that Moncrief is "already on the Bucks bench."
