I don't think anything they did was classless. As a fan I really loved the fire and the passion from the owner. I just think that by enabling LeBron's behavior for 7 years that really hurt their organization. You don't turn over a multimillion dollar operation to a kid and some of his buddies. It should have been obvious to everyone based on the guys Lebron wanted to play with that he didn't know what it took to win. Reinsdorf and company knew this when it came to Jordan. They didn't allow him to have a say in the transactions they made. Like a child they let him know who the parent was. He ended up being loyal to them. Even after NY offered him $100M.

Looking at this situation in a vacuum I'd say that yes, Lebron would've done well to have refrained from comment. However, I agree with Hova's opinion that the Cavs had a huge hand in creating the Lebron monster by catering to his every whim.

More than anything it should serve as a lesson to all sports franchises that you should not place any one athlete above the collective interest of the team...no matter how individually talented he may be.

And yes Zack...I agree that Twitter comments are way overblown.

who the fuck gives a shit about ESPN polls?

Because it happens to represent a sample size of what people...sports fans like yourself...are thinking. In this thread we have what...10 opinions of LeBron? 10,000 is of more significance than 10. Overall, people are split down the middle on what to think of LeBron.

And you're pretty dumb if you truly didn't know why an opinion poll would be posted.

so you're telling me ESPN polls actually represent what people are thinking? you give an iota of value or credence to them? then you're the one that's pretty dumb, but I think we've already concluded that

Not really. It's all about timing. Unfortunately, you just picked the wrong day to resume posting. If you had returned Mondy or Friday, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

yes, actually I do view myself as above a sports fan that goes to ESPN.com. I'd like to think that you are too, but I'm not sure. I view CSFMB as a whole as people who are much more interested in sports (in general) as the average person

here's a homework assignment: go look at some various articles on ESPN.com and look at the comments posted. These are the type of people that are responding to the polls. further, who the hell responds to a poll ? or a text question on a broadcast? maybe if you were 11 years old. sure, 10,000 is a lot of people but it represents what, maybe .0000000001% of fans? can you vote twice in the poll? could you vote as much as you want? it's not just ESPN, I don't put much value in any kind of poll because the data can be easily manipulated and sample sizes are usually pretty small. lastly, lets say the I think ESPN polls are the greatest thing ever. Cool. So opinion is split 50/50. so what's your conclusion? that some people like Lebron and some don't? why don't you tell us your own opinion and discuss it rather than regurgitating some useless polls stats

Online polls are not scientifically accurate at all. They are just meant to be a thing to get your reader engaged in your website. The results are not failrly accurate.

Your logic is flawed. I will address it as well as I can.

To start off, I do view myself as a more knowledgeable sports fan than most. I do not base this on what sites I visit. I look at ESPN, blogs, message boards, etc... The people who comment on these sites are allowed to have opinions, whether they are far-fetched or shared by the masses, just as much as you and I are. Take now, for example, CNN.com. Have you ever seen the bile that is the comments section on that site? Are now ALL people who go to CNN.com morons? Is it guilt by association? Are suddenly all articles, polls, and content in general on CNN.com invalid?

A poll question presented on a website is answered by many people. Texts on broadcasts not so much I'd imagine. Don't we have polls on this site? Don't we have idiots like whistler responding to them? Does that negate your opinion? My opinion? The results of the poll? No it doesn't.

Also, I'm known fairly well around these parts for giving my opinion, and giving it often. However, in some rare cases (more than you think), I do not have an opinion. LeBron James...how does he affect me in my day to day life? Does he change how I view sports or the team I root for? Nope, not at all, in any fashion. He is a fucking basketball player with (!!!) opinions of his own, and he has no problem making those known as well. Big fucking deal. Is he a villain because of this? I don't think so. Do I have a problem with people viewing him as a villain? Nope.

However, I do like knowing that just about as many people view him as a villain than don't. It's interesting.

Just like you lumping all people who use ESPN.com together because x amount of people on there are idiots.

I once saw a black person steal something.

Thank God I'm a bit more logical than you or you'd call me racist.

if it doesn't matter to you than why even bother posting in this section? you're going on and on and ain't sayin' nothing'

I've brought 10,000 opinions to the thread. To save you the trouble of math, that is 9,999 more than anyone else. If your superiority complex is ignoring those...everyone can formulate their own opinions on how to treat your own.

You're a funny guy.

I think we all owe LeBron another apology.

LOS ANGELES -- LeBron James was firm in his tweet Tuesday night that seemed targeted at his former owner and teammates. But when asked to explain his thoughts Wednesday, James turned evasive.

Speaking before the Heat took on the Clippers at Staples Center, where the Cavs suffered a historic 112-57 loss to the Lakers the night before, James hedged on the meaning of his missive and then even the source.

It seemed that James was speaking about the Cavs, who have lost 11 in a row, and their struggles while taking a shot at team owner Dan Gilbert. Last July, in a letter to fans, Gilbert had predicted bad karma for James.

But James declined to fully explain his thoughts and then attempted to imply they weren't even his.

"It's just how I was feeling at the time," James said. "It wasn't even a comment from me, it was someone who sent it to me and I sent it out. It wasn't toward that team. It definitely wasn't a good showing by that team last night, I know they wish they would've played better."

The entry on James' Twitter account did not indicate it was a re-tweet from another user. James also did not fully explain the meaning behind the statement, though he did say that karma is a word and concept "I've kinda always used my whole life."

"I don't think there was intent at all," James said.

"I think everyone looks into everything I say. Everybody looks too far into it. No hit toward that organization. I've moved on and hopefully that organization is continuing to move on. But I'm happy where I am as a Miami Heat player."

When asked to clarify his confusing comments, James and the questions were cut off by a member of the Heat public relations staff.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said that the team has taken steps to educate players about Twitter and other forms of social media. James' teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have been users of Twitter longer than James and several other Heat players use it including Mario Chalmers and Carlos Arroyo.

"We have [talked to players] and guys have scaled it back quite a bit," Spoelstra said. "The world has changed. Social media is a part of our world whether we want it to be or not. Every team is dealing with these type of issues."

Brian Windhorst covers the Miami Heat for ESPN.com.
