The good part (for them) is that these are usually some of the easiest/cheapest players to find.

I think thats a yes and no. They are the easiest to find, but usually they are bargain basement guys that work out. Bagels pointed out Korver, but in general paying a shooter who cant do anything else is usually a bad idea. From what Ive seen, shooters are similar to relief pitchers in baseball. They can be found anywhere, but once they are found they are often overpaid, and its just as easy to strike out on a prospective one as it is to hit on one.

i hear Wally Szczerbiak is available

As with any trade, anything could happen. But you HAVE to do this deal if you're LA.

you mean major injuries like Bynum missing ~20 games last year ? Kobe and Nash belong in a retirement home
just saying it's not as far fetched as you're making it out to be

Bynum missed 6 games last year.

Right. The league only played 66 games. I know I was in the Army but I cant be this dumb. Im pretty sure my math is right here.

i'll take my medicine

but my point still stands that they're an injury risk and any one of them goes down its over
i know you can say that about anyone but with their age they're clearly more at risk

There is an outside chance it could be a lottery pick in 2015. That would require Nash to show his age and Kobe unable to go to Germany to see his Doctors.

I think Bynum, who is their most valuable player IMO, can miss 40 games and they will make the playoffs still.

I get your point, I just like the move. The Lakers are betting that they at the very least make the playoffs the next two years. I think that's a safe bet.

The second number one is in 2015 due to NBA rules you cant trade your first round pick in back to back years.

  In fairness you have to expect Bynum to miss 20+ games. Since he didn't you have to find a way to trade him for Howard. When healthy he is easily the 2nd center in the league. Unfortunately he has the attention span of a 4 year old.

From what I read that procedure is close to being legalized here. We just take longer cutting red tape than others do. I think Kobe will be healthy and a good player the next two years.

This line is crazy. Maybe in a couple different ways.

They should call that the Robert Sarver rule. Actually that joke would suck less if you said sell instead of trade.

You think Kobe, Nash, and Pau will age that quickly? They did it in the 2010-2011 season pretty much.

I think both teams are unbelievably stupid for not making a Howard/Bynum deal. That's a whole other topic.

No.

A). I think Kobe is their MVP.
B). If Kobe misses half the games next year, I'm not sure they make the playoffs. You're saying Bynum is the MVP and he can miss half the games and still make the playoffs? Then he's probably not the MVP.

I think Kobe could also, especially now with Nash. I think Kobe, in a vacuum, is a slightly better player than Bynum. But the rarity of a franchise center makes Bynum more valuable. Not to mention Bynum is improving and Kobe is declining.

my hilarious gaffe aside, Bynum has missed quite a few games the past 4 years
54, 65, 50, 32 GP (and the 60)

This is not really supporting your stance. :D

Kobe is declining, but he is declining from a level that Andrew Bynum will never reach, even if he was wearing special Bernstein shoes.

How does that go against my stance?

I agree Bynum will never be a top 5-10 player of all time. Bold prediction.

I'm just saying. That doesn't mean much.

Mario Chalmers game is on the rise, and D Wade's is on the decline. Therefore Chalmers is more valuable than Wade.

Chalmers would agree with you. The strong point of that delusional fuck is he truly thinks he is as good as Lebron or Wade.

Lol what? That didn't even mock me. That's not what I said at all for my reasoning for saying Bynum is their MVP.

Nevermind. I was just talking about the one specific point about Bynum ^ and Kobe v.

Oh. Well yeah, like I said, the positions matter a great deal here. I think you could make a case for either one of them being team MVP. I think Bynum would have averaged 24-12 without Kobe on the team. His maturity and injury histories have to be taken into account. If they weren't Id say its a no-brainer going forward who the MVP of the Lakers is.

I was surprised that Steve Nash accepted a sign-and-trade. Not just any other team, but the Los Angeles Lakers, a team in the Phoenix Suns' own Pacific Division. It will be a little different seeing Steve wearing a number other than #13 with the purple & gold, but all indications had Nash going to the New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors or the new NBA Champion Miami Heat, not the Lakers.

It is my understanding that Nash specifically asked to be moved to L.A. because his kids will remain in Phoenix and he wanted to remain reasonably close.

I'll take your word for it, Zippy. However, Dan Patrick said on his syndicated sports talk radio/TV show today that Nash was thisclose to going to the Knicks, not the Lakers.
