Excellent point!
Teams should also try to avoid players that have friends and/or family members... who knows, some of these people may die and really screw up their investment.

Yes, I do, but I still think your take on the Wall thing is odd.
No biggie.

They should just wear "I CAN'T GRIEVE" T-shirts.

Family and friends are completely different than meeting a kid that doesn't have long to live. Anyone that isn't a monster will likely get attached.

Then maybe stop treating them the same by bringing up Lamar Odom.

I was just trying to show the extreme of how death can effect someone. I personally couldn't imagine the feelings of growing close to kids that I knew didn't have long to live. Once you meet them and see how happy they are to see you you feel obligated to continue that relationship. When they die it has to crush them the same way losing a family member or a close friend would. When you take into account how often something like this may happen it could really effect someone that isn't mentally tough in a bad way. It's the reason why EMS workers and others receive a certain type of training.

EMS work is completely different. I don't think their training has to do with what we are talking about. I think it has to do with dealing with extreme situations and not going into shock.

It doesn't seem like there is much evidence, if any, to support the conclusion you are drawing here.

Because it is relatively new and most NBA players are probably too selfish to get attached. Hell most aren't attached to their own kids. As I said if I were an owner I would advise guys like Wall not to get attached to the sick kids. It's better for their mental health.

Just spouting stuff off now? Or is there actually something suggesting this?

Why are you more concerned with a millionaire's mental health than the mental health of a child dying of cancer? Seems like misplaced priorities there.

Who said that? Meeting a kid and taking a picture and giving them autographed things is fine. I just don't think it's smart to develop a relationship with a child you know doesn't have long to live. Especially considering they probably get a million requests a year to do the same thing. Constantly seeing someone you are close to die could damage anyone.

I guess it's not "smart" to donate your time at a food kitchen, or give a million dollars to a charity you believe in either. I'm glad (most) people don't look at charitable or altruistic actions through the lens of logic and practicality.

Edit: You said that, although you did qualify it by saying if you were the owner of the team that millionaire played for.

That's not the same.
