A center who shoots 50/39/85 and averages 18-10-6 is a great offensive player. And he's only 23 and getting better. I have him rated just about right.

You don't have him.rated right if you think he is better than Embiid. Embiid avg. 23 and 11 and is in a different stratosphere than him defensively. Embiid is dominant defensively.

Jokic is the worst defending starting Center in the league. If not the worst then in the conversation for worst.

If they are both healthy Embiid is better right now. I don’t think Embiid will be reliable health wise which is why I would take Jokic. Offensively I think they have similar impacts right now. Embiid is obviously way better defensively like you said.

Hell of a game tonight.

I love Jokic going forward. Don’t tell me he can’t get bucket at clutch moments.

He put it all out there. He’ll come back next season in better shape and with improved young teammates and dominate. Looking forward to it.

His thoughts on De'aaron Fox and Lonzo Ball only embolden my claims.

Quote:
Nikola Jokic is the NBA’s second-most talented offensive big man behind only Anthony Davis, and he showed it Saturday night by pitching a perfect game with 35 points on 11-for-11 shooting to go with 12 rebounds, 11 assists, four steals, and one block. The Serbian center is frequently compared with Marc Gasol, but Jokic, now in his fourth NBA season at only 23, is younger than Gasol was when the Spaniard first entered the league, and more productive offensively than Gasol has ever been.

Jokic is a clairvoyant passer, an elite rebounder, and a versatile scorer. The question has always been defense. But times are changing. The season is not yet one week old, and through three games the Nuggets have the NBA’s no. 1 defense—with victories over the Clippers, Suns, and Warriors. They’ve revised their pick-and-roll defense, and Jokic is flourishing.

That first pass reminded me of Larry Bird.

Edit: Oh so many sick passes. Attention players, just go to the rim. He will find you. Kudos to the guys finishing all those plays.

Another silly statement that is completely without context but unless board hierarchy dismisses it then it somehow passes for either a valid statement or a "valued opinion"

Jokic's turned into a solid defensive player and his rebounding percentage is 18.5, 18th in the NBA. Embiid is at 18.8, 16th in the NBA. If one of those players is a great rebounder than so is the other.

When did Jokic "turn into a solid defensive player"?. As late as last season his defense still stunk and Embiid averages more than 2 per game more. There is no guarantee that Jokic would average more simply by playing more minutes. His lateral movement stinks and it is painful to watch him have to switch over to check guards. He is Jalil Okafor level bad.

None of that is true except the part about him being bad last year. He was bad last year defensively and I was wrong when I said he was fine, but he's improved drastically this year on that end and it shows in his individual stats and metrics and in Denver's overall defensive metrics. Denver was 23rd in Defensive Efficiency last year and they are 2nd so far this year, behind only Boston.

The rebounding stuff I'll just ignore. It tells me you don't know what rebounding percentage is or don't think it's valid, so I'm not gonna continue a debate when that is the case.

 Yall can just make one general basketball thread where you can argue over and over instead of jumping from Levine to Jokic.

I have some understanding of what it happens to be but the fact remains that he is averaging 2 less per game than Embiid. You also are using a small sample size regarding "team defense" and attributing it to Jokic. Simply watching him play it is fairly obvious that he isn't that good and considering that you argued that he was good once before when it was obvious to anyone that watched that he wasn't I will simply presume that you don't what you are talking about and keep it pushing.

Nope.

I know you like to argue against facts with opinions but Jokic is objectively doing very well defensively this year. There isn't a weakness to his game. I'll grant you the small sample size but that doesn't change the fact that SO FAR, he's been an excellent defensive player. I've seen 5 Nuggets games so far and the eye test matches the metrics. He's much quicker hedging on pick n rolls and rotating underneath. He's also getting stronger to the point where he's not as easily pushed around by some of the bigger centers.

Some of the worst defenders in the league are on that list and you wonder why I typically disagree with your "facts". If he holds up for an entire year then I will give it credence. There no way in hell that his "improved" defense makes him better at it than Embiid.

Embiid's not a great defensive player and it's been a problem for Philly early on.

He is better than Jokic and you cited a source that by its very nature penalizes better defenders. Fultz Redick and Saric's defense has been more of a problem for Philly than Embiid's

Got to lay the groundwork for the inevitable "Simmons is more valuable thread". You know i say this as a Simmons supporter but he isn't better than Embiid. I seem to remember that being a bit of a debate last season. Hard to argue it thus far this year.

"One of the most feared defenders in the league Nikola Jokic"   Just doesn't sound right. OOPS She said Joel Embiid. All the great ones get dunked on at some point. Doris Burke just confirmed what everyone already knew.
