Is Gasol really all that much better than Scola at this point? Do the Rockets think getting Gasol gets them a title? I'm confused or are they saving money if they do this?

Would a team of Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler, Melo, and a pile of garbage be a contender? I'm not so sure.

LeBron, Wade and Bosh couldnt get it done alone and Wade and Lebron are better than Paul and Melo...

Well, the John Ratzenberger (Cliff Claven on "Cheers")-looking Mike D'Antoni is still the Knicks' head coach...for now.

Plus Paul and Chandler are both realllllll ouchy. I know Tyson Chandler is the 2nd best center to ever play the position. But cmon.

Individually? No. As a whole I could make the case that they could be better. No question Paul makes those around him better and he's a top 2 PG. Chandler gives you something the Heat really needed from Bosh last year.

These Superstar heavy/minimum contract heavy teams is what is going to make the pay-scale ridiculous in the NBA.

The real superstars will want to team up with other superstars in big markets. Small market teams are still required to spend money, and they are now required to spend even more under the new CBA. This is going to put them in a position where they now have to overpay even more to get a decent player to come to their city. What has the lockout even solved?

I can't believe the owners didn't fight harder for the Carmelo Anthony rule (no trades for 6 months following a signed extension), and I can't believe they didn't make a play for only allowing something like 1 max contract per team. The league is going to become a collection of teams with 2-3 max players, and the rest earning somewhere close to the minimum. They're pretty much going to kill the middle class in the years to come.

If there was any chance they weren't already, the Heat are by far the favorites to win the title this season thanks to the Battier trade.

You won't be saying that when Dwight Howard is a Bull

I don't think Dwight Howard's coming here either...Guys, if Howard goes anywhere, it's L.A. bound. The Lakers will trade everyone but Kobe to get the big man in the middle.

The signing of Battier and not Butler for the Bulls sucks. Anyone else the Bulls sign won't be better.

I think the Bulls only have the mid-level exception, and the guys they REALLY want are restricted free agents.

That was a playoff series. We don't generally dismiss what someone did for the entire season based on the playoffs. Gasol probably had his best season last year.

I won't be able to trade him if you don't vote to keep LeQueen on the league page. It's all riding on your vote. No pressure.

They are slight favorites but only because Dallas is pathetically forfeiting this season. But Miami's biggest weaknesses were PG and defending the paint. Their biggest strength was shutting down swing players. I don't see how Battier helps their weaknesses all that much.

I literally just had this conversation with a dude here at work who is all of a sudden a big Heat fan and he is convinced this signing is their ticket to a championship. I told him unless Battier can all of a sudden play PG or C they are not any closer to a championship

It's cause they are counting on Curry to patrol the paint and bring some much needed toughness and rebounding to their frontcourt
