Quote: Sources: NBA salary cap projected to increase more than previous estimates
The NBA has informed all 30 teams that the salary cap for the 2016-17 season is projected to be $94 million, higher than its previous estimates, league sources told The Vertical. The NBA sent a memo on Friday afternoon that the Basketball Related Income (BRI) for this past season is ongoing and that the increased projection for the next salary cap is due to "business outperformance since the previous estimates." The NBA's projected salary cap and tax level of $94 million and $113 million, respectively, have increased since the previous estimates done by the league and its players' union. The maximum player salaries are now expected to be $22 million for tier 1, $26.4 million for tier 2 and $30.8 million for tier 3. The final amount for the salary cap remains ongoing, pending the completion of the 2015-16 BRI audit report on July 6, the NBA wrote in the memo. |

Yeah...Butler's contract is an asset, not a liability. |

I'll be very disappointed if Mike Conley doesn't end up as a Spur this offseason. Perfect fit. Parker needs to go away. |

Washington reportedly going to offer Noah a four year Max deal I hope that was leaked by Noah's agent. Anytime you can max out a 32 year old Center who has barely played half the games the last two seasons you have to do it. |

According to Mitch Lawrence of the Sporting News, the Washington Wizards are prepared to offer Noah a maximum contract, which would start at $28 million and reach an estimated $120 million across four seasons. Noah, who is expected to move on from the Bulls, is also being pursued by the New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks. The Knicks interest in the two-time All-Star and 2014 Defensive Player of the Year is a no-brainer with Derrick Rose now in New York and Noah having spent his teenage years in the Big Apple, starring for Brooklyn's Poly Prep. Noah, the ninth overall pick of the Bulls in 2007, is coming off shoulder surgery that cut his season short last January. The 31-year-old Noah has averaged 9.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 572 games across eight seasons with the Bulls. |

Weird that the article neglects to mention that he also lead the NBA in TWTW in those 572 games. $28 million a year is a bargain for Joakim Noah. |

Pat Riley somehow gets these guys. Shaq, LeBron, now Durant. Also, as noted in the article, Durant's family will be attending these recruiting trips and sitting in on the meetings. You're an NBA star's immediate family, Tim Duncan Dull San Antonio vs the insane, shite weather Bay Area where a 2 bed/1bath starts at mid six-figures and and traffic sucks 24/7 vs South Beach? Also, Eastern Conference: there's one team between you and the Finals. A team led by a player Pat Riley will assure Durant the Heat know how to beat. Western Conference has at least 3 other contending teams besides the one you sign with. And the "also-rans" in the Western conference playoffs would be top 4 playoff teams in the East. |
