Tim Donaghy: Former Referee Says Warriors' Draymond Green Was Suspended to Prolong NBA Finals Donaghy, who left the league in 2007 after he was caught betting on games, told Sports Illustrated the forward is being made to skip Game 5 to give the Cavaliers a better chance to extend the Finals. “I think when you look at the overt acts that Green has committed before, they were definitely more severe than this act, and yet he’s gonna end up with a flagrant foul and suspension because of it,” Donaghy said. “In the past, I believe it was disregarded because [the Warriors] were down in the series. Here, they’re up in the series, so I think it’s a situation where, with that, it gives Cleveland a better chance of prolonging the series.” Donaghy believes the league favors teams that are down in a series as a general rule. “Definitely indirectly with the tape sessions that took place and how they would show you plays that they wanted you to concentrate on in the game,” Donaghy said of how the league allegedly influenced referees to officiate games a certain way. “It was always a situation where the team down in the series was going to benefit from those calls.” This isn’t the first time that Donaghy has accused the NBA of using its officials to influence a playoff series. Adam Silver has tried his best to fight back against the conspiracy theories, but there’s nothing he can really do to silence them, especially when Donaghy is helping to spread them. |

I'm all for the conspiracy theories (especially in the NBA), but last night they said teams that were up 3 games to 1 are 32-0 (for the series) and only 2 of those series made it to a game 7. So while the fix may be in, it hasn't been enough to matter. |
