Very good article. Love seeing stories of guys like that who work so hard for what they get. A smaller guard version of Dennis Rodman is a good comp for on the court.

Yeah he always just wanted to be a hooper. I remember when he verbally committed to Toledo going into his senior year. They'd done a good job of recruiting Chicago kids prior to his commitment. He later de-committed and I remember asking him why because truth be told I thought that was about his level. He told me that he believed he could go higher and he was correct. Proved it by signing with Arkansas.

When he got caught on the plagiarism thing (He had someone doing his work) one of his professors went to the University President and told them to do something about it or she was going to go the NCAA. That is when they decided to suspend him for a year. Didn't accept the deal and decided to enter the draft instead. I never thought he'd get drafted either. When he did I saw him playing out at the South Suburban Summer League (Pro Am) that summer and he told me that he was probably going to go overseas because he didn't want to risk being cut by the Heat and losing out on the chance to earn some overseas money. Told him I thought that was the correct move for him. He did his thing over there and he would come home during the summer and workout at the Berto Center. Still never saw it and then he turned up with the Rockets.

I'm happy for him because I know a lot of what it took for him to get there and he is the sort of kid that will never take anything for granted. For him he still hasn't really made it yet.
